New story for a more mature audience. A new battle system...it doesnt even hav to be new and innovative...just different than before >.>
And some real online gameplay? The games have potential, but i fear they will never reach it.

Does the stuff in there sound about right? I think either a PROPER game or a HORROR game would be the best thing to revamp the franchise. It would also be more appealing to the first generation fans of the franchise.
Zomg, horror Pokemon would be great.
Nurse Joy with a cleaver...
Lmao, i misread that. XD
I thought u said cleavage. :D

I was like "horror" not a porno. And i dont see anythinh horrifying about a nurse with cleavage. XD
Hmmm...Nursy Joy with cleavage...NO
The linkey goes to a thread about Pokemon possibly being a Horror game. Cleavage...Gawd...
Lmao, i thought thats what he said. XD

What I would like out o the next pokemon game:
REAL 3D like Coliseum or Pokemon XD.
MMO. It needs to happen, It's the natural evolution.
If not, at least make let trainers run around locally together (union room, but the whole game).
Full control over what our trainers look like in a proper Pokemon game: the Diamond and Pearl trainers are ugly, and the Platinum ones are EVEN WORSE.
Give us the ability to go to any region, including Jhoto, or re-release that region on DS-Compatible media. Heartgold and Soulsilver were released since this post. Thanks Nintendo.

How about individually animated body parts? I think the entire Pokemon moving is a little old.

Well,an MMO would be a nice start.
Also they could start a 3D adventure rpg game across all platforms alongside the 2d games or a game with a 2d map where you enter a 3d battle arena only when u're having a pokemon battle(like rome total war)
And also since I liked the series best when it had only 151 pokemons,it would be nice to see a new stuff based around that

I think that Pokemon does do a lot of things right, and that there isn't much to fix with it.

First of all, the game balances complexity with simpleness really well. Any 9 year old can pick up the game and start playing it. The type match ups are easy to figure out and work with in order to enjoy the game. There is also a deeper part to the battle system as well. The stats menu, which I ignored as a kid playing the games, add a whole new strategic plan when battling. There is also a mathematical formula on how the moves affect the opponent. As I already said, the game keeps it simple but has a deeper element to it that, when harvested, can make the battling much more satisfying.

I think we need to remember too that Pokemon is marketed mostly to children. If you were an adolescent in the late 90s you can remember how exiting Pokemon was. If we want to play them now and enjoy them just the same we have to just get used to the game being marketed towards a younger audience. We don't need Pokemon dying, we don't need Team Rocket with guns. To me, that kind of realism would ruin the game. There is enough violence in the world that we don't need to corrupt Pokemon. Leave it as it is. If you want to play a realistic rpg play an Elder Scrolls game. The game does do a lot to make it fun and deep enough (gameplay-wise) for older audiences.

One of my favorite things about the game is the relationships you can have with your Pokemon. You can do things to make them love you, which feels good, in a way, after you trained them so hard. Giving them natures (which affected how your Pokemon performed in battle) in R/S/E and, in my opinion, even greater, the characteristics in D/P/P was brilliant. That gave Pokemon more than just a sprite on a screen. Abilities, breeding, genders, they were all great ideas as well. All of them added new strategies for battling and raising and were just plain fun to see.

There are some problems I would like fixed though. The biggest problem with the series, as many of you stated earlier, is that there is no innovative storyline. The same story has been recycled over and over throughout the series. I have been playing Final Fantasy V lately and have found the story to flow through very nicely. Of course, it is a corny "unlikely hero/save the four elemental crystals to save the world/guy with amnesia/finding out that the guy in your party is actually a girl and is the long-lost sister of the princess who travels with you to revenge her father/etc."(I really didn't ruin anything. You find out early in the game and it isn't that hard to guess) story, but it works. Now I'm not saying that I want the story to be completely corny, but having a deeper storyline that isn't the same generic Pokemon story line that we all have played over the past twelve years would be great.

Another thing that I have always wanted to see in a Pokemon game is a chance to take different paths to get to the end of the story. If I may, the storyline plays like a rail-rpg until you get to the end, where you can jump off of the rail and go back if you'd like. Having side-quests that allowed you to do this would be great.

Now, about character creation, there is a part of me that says yes and a part of me that says no. Yes, it would be fun to create your character. That is one of my favorite things to do in a video game. I could spend all day creating characters on The Sims 2 or Oblivion and not get bored, but Pokemon, to me, doesn't seem like it is a character-creating game. My intuition tells me that it would take away from the Pokemon charm. Maybe choosing different avatars would be great, but besides that I don't know.

Pokemon-wise, I disagree about disowning all Pokemon past the first generation. There are some great Pokemon that have come out in the second and third generation that I love. (I have tried to not look at all of the fourth generation Pokemon. I want what I find in the grass to be a surprise when I finally get the game.) There are some Pokemon that aren't that all exciting but one has to look at the diversity and creativity of the pokemon in the pokemon world and admire them for those creations. There are bound to be some questionable Pokemon when you have created so many.

There are some more small things with the game that I would like to see fixed.

I personally found the contests in Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald to be a lot of fun. I only wish that they actually accomplished something in the game. Fixing that would be great.

Oh, I almost forgot this one. The variety of Pokemon that trainers you fight have needs to be greater. It gets old after a while battling the same Breeders or the same Hikers with the same Pokemon in tow.

That's all I can think of for now. I'll try to come up with some more ideas.

You are amazing. I'd say the same, but I'm too lazy to type it up. Another thing I would like is alternate clothes for the same avatar/sprite. Maybe I want a different hat today, you know?

I would like the games to have more than one save file (won't happen though because they would lose sales).

I actually picked up Diamond version because my little brother needs some help in it.

Character customization in the games would be great, I remember there was a rumor they were going to have it in Pokémon Emerald and I got really excited, but yeah they didn't. Stupid rumors.
Being able to put cloths and accessories on your Pokémon would be a good feature, but if the things you could put on them boosted certain stats that would make it even better.

They should make a Pokémon game with all the main regions, like Kanto, Johto, Honenn and Sinnoh, also, a Pokémon game where you could choose whether you were good, or evil, or a breeder or coordinator rather than your usual trainer...

I think I heard that there is somethning in the works to make a DS version of Gold and Silver. Just throwing that out there.

How about we consider upgrading the battle style, making it more like controlling a pokemon rather than giving it commands from a faceless mute PC. STOP MAKING MORE POKEMON! we need an evolution of concept rather than more arbitrary florescent things running around.

A revamped battle system.

If they made a pokemon MMO i'd drop WoW for that in an instant. Nothing like being out in the middle of some tall grass when a player runs up yelling "I CHALLENGE YOU!" At which point you turn your hat sideways and do epic battle.

Gold and Silver were the best. Took 2 more generations afterwards just to get remotely to the point of awesome that was Gold and Silver.

Definitely have to agree with a real time fighting game. SSBB did indeed show that it might be possible to work out. First person platformer sounds good too, or a third person view fighter would be great too. oh the possibilities!!! Out4Blood4, you and I think alike, because I've been thinking about that kind of game for a long time too. It would be the best pkmn game ever!

I also really liked the idea of how moves learned could be 'equippable' instead of only 4 set moves each. It allows greater versatility from one pokemon and fixes the HM problem. No more needing items to relearn a move either. Just customize movesets between battles.

No more IV or EV nonsense!!! It's all fun and games until people start bringing out calculators and spreadsheets and all that crap just so they can try to get that statistical, number crunching edge. All pokemon of the same species should have the same stats- all you should have to worry about are movesets, leveling up, type match-ups, and fighting style (for real-time games). Personalities should change to reflect how you use the pokemon (and perhaps change the way they stand or facial features) instead of being randomly set.

Instead of having to breed moves onto pokemon and having to look at iv's, ev's, and raising up a new pokemon instead of your beloved starter, implement a NEW MOVE TUTOR SYSTEM. You raise up a pokemon that will learn a certain move naturally, then take it to some special gym or someplace where IT becomes the move tutor, teaching the move to compatable pokemon (comparable to- if not the same as- the egg move/group system). For Ex. Octillery teaching Octozooka to other water pokemon that could currently learn it only thru breeding/egg moves.
You'd only need to breed pokemon to make copies for your friends or if you really wanted to make a whole team of just your favorite pokemon (especially since moves are equippable/unequippable with its entire move repetoire at your disposal).

On the same vein, implement a point system that eventually allows you turn your favorite pokemon into it's shiny version (that you could turn on and off). Pkmn could earn Radiance points for winning contests, battling gym leaders and the elite 4, reaching lvl 100, competing in officialy sanctioned (online) contests/tournaments or just defeating other (real) people's pokemon. It would of course be set up to take forever to tally up enough points so that you could make this change so that shiny pokemon are still rare and few in between, but no more abandoning your starter for a shiny one like some ADD raccoon- you heartless bastards! No more one in a several thousand chance, and ARing shinies wouldn't really feel like a necessity for a cool looking team- you just need devotion and determination.

No more random battles. Think of Lost Kingdoms II for GCN or a really interactive version of pokemon snap- see pokemon moving around in the world and simply choose to go up to them and battle them or run away from more aggressive pokemon that want to chase you out of their territory.

No more poffins or pokemon blocks. Not another stupid thing I gotta feel perfectionist about because you can only give them so many and I feel I have to raise every trait up as high as I possibly can.

I think a kingdom hearts style pokemon game wear you controle your character in real time until you wanna summon a pokemon. When you do that you controle the pokemon, while main is Ai automated. I think this would ad something to the pokemon universe, if the battles worked in a similar way to KH then moves like harden and quick attack sundenly become alot more usefull. Also out side of battle pokemon moves should be allowed to help progress into areas other then HM's. Finaly you should be able to select older moves you had learnt without deleating your old ones. This would of course only work on a console,
