One thing I'd absolutely hate to see and it annoys the hell out of me to see is when people think the next step for Pokemon is a real-time battle system, like turn-based was simply used initially because it was all they could do and real time is inherently better. The battle system is incredibly solid and in no need of drastic change.
Yeah that annoys me no end too. The actual battling itself might not be complex, but the systems behind it and the thought that needs to go into player vs player? Some of the best turn based combat there has EVER been. Fortunetly Game Freak know this and stick to their guns, unlike Square.

Looking at what I know of current Pokemon games, I have to say that the future of Pokemon looks bleak. Trash Pokemon? Level four evolutions? Power ups? It doesn't sound that fun to me, and from what my classmate has showed me on his 2DS, the graphics are still pretty iffy. I may be wrong though, I have hardly kept up with Pokemon news. For all I know, whatever the latest incarnation of Pokemon is the best so far and you guys are loving it.
Also, what do you want Pokemon to become? A fully fledged open world, GTA style, with even more RPG mechanics, or maybe a new, more action focused combat system? QuickTime events for the Pokeballs (since we all just press the A and B buttons together anyway, might as make it part of the game)?
As numerous people have pointed out, every generation has crap pokemon. I don't know why people keep bringing up Trubbish. Also, What's wrong with level 4 evolutions? 3 is fine but 4 isn't fun? That seems rather arbitry. Although they're not really level 4 evolutions, just temporary in battle evolutions(like Digimon), they allow some classic pokemon that people love to actually be competitive, which is great, and add a whole new layer of strategy to the game.
My only real issue with this generation is the balancing of Fairy type, I feel that making it immune to dragon and such a strong type to be a bit overkill, given there's not that many poison attacks that are very good in competitive and almost all the poison pokemon are shit and are weak to psychic, countering them is a bit of a ball ache. It didn't address the gaps in the meta game, it put them in a snowglobe and strapped it to a rambunctious terrier.
Dunno where the graphics argument comes from, the 3DS is only so powerful and each generation has looked fine relevant to the time it came out, it's like you're comparing it to a console game and expecting something that's utterly unfeasible. Pokemon has some of the strongest gameplay in the RPG genre, which is what really matters, although ORAS/XY look great as far as I'm concerned. No real time or quick time events. It's a turn based series, making it action based would be ludicolous. But it's down + A man, that's the REAL button combination

As for what I would liked to see, I kind of want them to scrap the turned based battle altogether for rather new battle mechanic used in some JRPG these days. I'm just bored of the limited 4 moves sets. In saying so I know this is impossible due to the many Pokemons other there so imagine trying to give all of them specific move sets???
Just no. Making that big a change to the core series of games at this point would be insane and quite possibly a death knell for the franchise. The mechanics are polished to an absolute mirror shine. They're limited to those 4 moves for a reason. Yeah it is restrictive but then you have to be strategic about what moves you have them learn, to make sure your team is balanced and cohesive. JRPGs moving away from turn based combat is bad enough as it is, because a lot of the new systems are horrible, I don't want to see it happen to Pokemon.
