This show isn't really suppossed to make sense. It's just mindless fun with a hint of good moral judgement and life lessons mixed in.

1. Steal other trainer's Pokémon.
2. ????????????????
3. PROFIT

That is pretty much it. Their goal was world domination, their plans were inadequate.

I don't know what Team Rocket was supposed to be all about in the TV show, but in the games, they were up to some pretty sinister stuff. Cutting off Slowpoke tails to sell as gourmet foodstuffs, forcing Magikarp to evolve before their time at the Lake of Rage, stealing technology from the Silph Company, stealing Cubone skulls to sell from the graves in Lavender Town... It's pretty scummy stuff. I tell ya, if those Rocket Grunts were armed with something a bit heftier than the standard issue Ekans and Zubat, they'd be dangerous.

Not a lot makes sense in that, mainly because its all a fantasy dreamed up by Ash in a coma state after being zapped by the lightning in the first episode.

team rocket are following ash becasue james is really his father, lol kidding all though there is the speculation that the team rocket boss is. maybe they follow him to keep an eye on him for the boss
True i have always wondered about why Ash seemed singled out. But i sort of figured it was because they know he could become a great Pokemon Catcher and so Team Rocket follow sorely because they want to steal the best Pokemon for themselves.

God i love Pokemon, wish the first series would come back on, the very begining. I hadn't liked it at that time but it grew on me.

I find the idea of anyone thinking this much about Pokemon to be inherently hilarious. This is probably because Pokemon was never actually all that popular with my age bracket, but I would still opine that it's easy to see why Team Rocket are the bad guys: it's because they are the bad guys, duh.

Deep characterization and motivation are not exactly facets of children's cartoons based on video-games.

What would happen if you shot a Pikachu in the face? Would it die?

And are there any guns in the Pokémon Universe?

On Topic: Team Rocket thinks that Pikachu is an amazing Pokémon so they wanna steal it and use it to rob banks I think.

Nice South Park gnomes reference there dude. LMAO

But yea, Team Rocket's goal is basically to steal other people's pokemon, which they tend to suck at big time.

But truthfully, the only real thing that bother's me about the Pokemon cartoon is that the character Ash has been trying to become a pokemon master for many seasons now, and I just think they should just let him become one, allowing a different character to take his place as the main character of the show to cronicle that person's journey to become a master. And if kids fuss that doing so will mean no more dumb pikachu to watch along with Ash, then the new trainer can have his or her own pikachu to fill the hole. :p

in the manga things are a bit more epic and violent.

the elite four destroy an entire town, Red(the character Ash is based on) gets frozen, and his main pokemon is poliwrath.

Nah, I think they'd just make the like this:

- Ash finds a pokemon
- Ash becomes friends with pokemon
- TR shoots at Ash
- New pokemon jumps in front of Ash to save him.

Think about all of the episodes you could milk from that, one for each pokemon.

I wish so many animes had guns in them... Yu-gi-oh, pokemon and anything that involves someone using objects or something to fight for them.

When I turned 13 I hoped for this version honestly.

Or for Giovanni to realize: "These idiots are costing me millions! I'll just have to fire them!"
