I found this on Serebiinet http://www.serebii.net/index2.shtml

I know someone made a similar thread earlier but it didn't mention this...
At 0:50 it states "Mega Evolution is only possible during battle!"
<youtube=YTHgE0vtOXU>

If you are not convinced Justpushstart confirms it http://www.justpushstart.com/2013/08/pokemon-x-and-pokemon-y-mega-evolution-trailer-debuts/

Its a form that is only used whilst in battle and they revert to their normal forms after battle, so now pokemon are essentially Super Saiyans... I dont know how everyone else feels but I'm deligted. I hope that Sceptile will get the same treatment, and all the other starters for that matter.

I like it. I figured they had to run out of idea's for new evolutions of old pokemon some time. This is a nice solution to combat that problem. But yes, it does give a very super saiyan-esque feeling...

I think its more of a combo set up. Its like getting the right combos to set up a killer strategy for a pokemon besides "Protect with Blaziken until Speed Boost is used"

This kind of idea is exactly what I like in this franchise, something slightly new added to the old formula.

Never been much for online play myself, so I don't care about strategies that much. That being said I agree. The first formula was basically perfect for this type of game. Simple and easy to learn for new and casual players. Very detailed and in-depth for the hardcore players. Nintendo seemed to have recognized this, and instead of changing the formula decided to only add new features to it. Like dual battles, or group battles as seen in X and Y trailers.

Online play is a whole new world of pokemon.

Pokemon you think are worthless tend to become far more applicable than most think. It's about 95% of the time out thinking and properly predicting your opponent as opposed to an AI. Something about the human element makes it far more fun.

But learning that field is like learning a second language, all these terms and such just to understand, "Effort Values" is probably the most used term.

Wait wait wait, what's this about the "this" Mega Stone being unavailable during normal gameplay? Does that mean each Pokemon that will have a mega form will need a specific kind of Mega Stone?

We have not much information other than certain pokemon having a "nite" form.

Lucarionite
Blazikennite

This is a temporary evolution thing to happen mid-combat.

Dragonite.

Wait, What?

OT: I'm pretty hyped about this. Adaptability Lucario's gunna own bigtime. And Magic Bounce Absol & Huge Power Mawile are going to be interesting, too.

So I just found this, felt it was relevant:

I wonder how you get it to "proc" when you want though, last thing you'd need is for it to go off when you DON'T need it. It's like using Swords Dance then getting hit with an Encore.

Well that's a relief.

For a second there, I thought that the Pokedex was going to needlessly expand in order to complete it's minimum of 100+ new Pokemon per Gen.

I like how it's a choice to make a Pokemon unleash their mega forms rather than being a straight up evolution.

Now I DEFINITELY need to get a 3DS before the game launches so that I can get my Torchic upon the game's release.

I think its a good idea, and weaker Pokemon like Mawile and Absol definitely need the boost. But giving it to already insanely strong Pokemon like Mewtwo and Blaziken just seems stupid, already uber overpowered Pokemon do not need any further boost to their power. But we'll see how it ends up.

I like the Idea of it, some of these mega forms look shit though.

The Mewtwo looks like a more childlike version of mewtwo?

Levelling all pokemon to 100, IV's, EV's, having the right moveset, having enough of those stat increasing medicine, etc. It's all too much effort for a pokemon game for me. I play it casually. I just like having a fun game to pick up every now and then, to play when I don't feel like doing much apart from hanging on the couch.

Actually getting them all to level 100 is no longer necessary as EVs are "added" without levelling now.

I have only one question about this:
How the developer will explain these "Mega-forms" story wise?

Story has never been an issue for Gamefreak I wouldnt worry about it if I were you, I dont think mega evolutions could do much to affect the standard "Evil pokemon gangsters want to take over the world using legendary pokemon".

Well, the whole 'theme' of X and Y is about genetics and DNA, so it probably involves altering Pokemon genes or something.

Pikahamahamahchu?

They may not have run out of evolution chain ideas, but at some point they were going to get ridiculous. Adding in fourth tier or pre-evolutions is more or less okay, but they've ended up adding enough power that even some of the psuedolegendaries have been left in the dust. Of course, whether that bothers you depends on whether you go for power. I don't play competitively, and mostly fill up my team with "cute" or "cool" looking Pokémon. I'd roll with six Bidoof if they looked better.

....Okay, maybe not THAT far.

But still, they would eventually end up with like ten string evolutions, and that would get...Insane.

I wonder if any Pokemon (that is being given a Mega form) can achive the mega form (and aswell using the said item to transform into a megaform) or does the Pokemon itself has to be special meaing it will be rare?
I'm starting to think about this due to that recent info that a Torchic that can become MegaBlaziken will be aviable to download at release date. Ok on Serebii said that the item to get an MegaBlaziken cannot be found in the game but I still wonder if any Pokemon is compactible with the item or the Pokemon itself has to be special/ unquie that the others don't have?
