Pokemon X and Y Mega evolution is only for in battle.

I have only one question about this:
How the developer will explain these "Mega-forms" story wise?

Probably something like: In this new region of the pokemon world, some scientist had recently found this certain stone that allow pokemon to unleash their hidden powers through their bond with trainers: Mega Stone. Through igniting their fighting spirit and linking 100% with their trainer, their ultimate form is revealed.


I mean, they never really exaplained how the Fire/Water/Leaf stone etc worked anyway. Don't see this as any different.

I really like the Mega form of Kangaskhan. Literally the only thing that changes is that the baby Kangaskhan jumps out of the little pouch thing. That's just amazing. Not only that, it's Mega ability allows Kangaskhan to attack twice. That's incredible. Everything is incredible.

It's like gems to boost attacks! It will feel like going super saiyan! I'm still worried about it ripping up the whole battle system, though. How will they balance it?

Now that this has been cleared up, I'll start talking about things I want. MegaYanmega. Give it dragon wings. To make this idea even more funny, Yanmega's Japanese name is MegaYanma, so naturally it will become MegaMEGAyanma.

Damn...Mega bugs are going to look so badass...

Remember Scyther? How so many of us as kids thought it would be impossible to make it look cooler? But then they did when Scizzor was what it evolved into? Give me a mega form of THAT. Because I already can't think of a way to make Scizzor cooler.

It's basically Digimon, guys. And since we barely ever get Digimon stuff in the States, I am completely OK with this.

The Gym Leader shown in the trailer apparently has something to do with Mega Evolution. Whether that means she'll simply teach the player about them, or actually has a hand in its existence/discovery is beyond me.

edit: OT: it does seem a bit digimon to me, but there is nothing wrong with it, though I did like digimon cause they spoke in plain old -insert region language here- and could interact more than just as a pet.

Thank the gods. I was really concerned that they were filling out the new generation Pokemon quota with just slightly more fabulous designs of the previous Pokemon.
