I'm tempted to say, who cares?

She threw puppies in a river. They drowned quickly. Bad? Yes.. Worse than almost all other cruelty to animals? No.

People who were so horrified about this really ought to open their eyes to what animals go through on a routine basis in our apparently "animal friendly" society. If anything, this shows how short of an attention span people have and how ignorant so many must be about how the world works.
