NO. The world won't end and a whole lot of people will look incredibly stupid when they spend all their damn time like it will. Unfortunately, life will go on after 2012 so stop acting like its the end of days. On Jan 1, 2012, everyone who believed the world was going to end is either going to deny they ever really believed it or admit how incredibly stupid they were. I should start a thread with a poll just to see how many people will actually come out and admit their stupidity and how many will deny it and try to play it off.

Bah. A lot of stupid people will waste a lot of money on canned foods, bottled water and toilet paper, and spend the new year's period in a basement / bomb shelter, then get really embarrassed when nothing happens.

Fox News will run 3 straight days of "this is why everyone who's not a white christian from the american 'heartland' is going to hell", then be sued into oblivion by the combined negro alliance, the jewish fellowship, the council of islam, every aetheist, hindi, seikh (sp? my apologies if it's wrong), hash-minister, and a couple of pissed off clowns. Glen Beck's head explodes under the strain.

Absolutely nothing will happen for the rest of the year, except for the usual natural disasters, a few man-made disasters, and something involving a chicken, a wetsuit, a bathtub full of custard and a well-known political figure.

Then, on January 1st, 2013, the planet will explode.

I didn't have natural disasters in mind when I wrote that, I was thinking about that planet... um, I can't remember its name, but the story is that it's going to hit Earth in 2012. Oh, and about natural disasters, they didn't start happening just 20 years ago, they've been going on since like, forever.
