While its true the Olympics haven't been in America in a very long time
Erm, Atlanta 1996?

Salt Lake City 2002?

Ring any bells?
erm Olympics are every 4 years, it cant have been Salt Lake in 2002
and 2000 was Sydney
Salt Lake was the Winter Olympics.

Including Winter Olympics there have been eight games in the USA. As many as China, Russia, Canada and Australia combined. Four of them have been held since 1980. Think you might be hogging the games a bit?

You'll have to forgive for this, but you are stupid.

Olympic games happen every 2 years, summer games, winter games. It's been covered already 2 posts above your one, read for a change, you might learn something.

Rapture.

I would like to see them in a country that's fallen due to poverty and raise money to help that country... I mean, it wouldn't hurt.

Only London and Athens have hosted more than 2 games with 3 each (technically London has hosted 4, but one of those was 1944).
Wait, how could London have technically hosted four if they cancelled the '44 ones? Surely nobody would count a cancelled olympiad as a hosted one, right?

You'd think so, but London 1944 is listed as the 13th Summer games, followed by London 48, the 14th Summer games. My theory is they kept it so the actual event didn't have to be the 13th games.

It's the only logical reason I can think of.

Is there actually a bid by chicago up and running then? If there isn't the entry date for 2016 bids is long gone, so it's moot point.
there is actually a bid

Can't... bring myself... to care...

Most people will be watching in on the tv anyway so it isn't like it makes a difference.

That's a good idea in theory, but I don't think it would work unless that country received a lot of aid beforehand. I may be mistaken but I believe the host country is responsible for building the facilities. An impoverished country probably wouldn't have the resources for such a task.

Im only into the Olympics to the degree that I watch it on TV and follow it casually in the News.
So the 2012 olympics is the one Im worried about, as people from all over the world will be watching and realising how shit my country is :)

But I dont mind America hosting the next olympics.
So yeah.
Thats what I say.

Somewhere that does it so badly everyone forgets about how badly Britain did it.

Seriously? Wherever the IOC want them held. So probably not Zimbabwe.

Well maybe instead of the host country paying for it, every country involved except for the host country pitches in a little bit to help out. Everyone throws in a little so it won't be like one country throwing in a lot.
