I know that the veiws are different for different games, for example bioshock wouldnt have quite the same impact if it wasnt if first person, same as half life

but generally when it comes to games and oyu had the choice what would you choose?

for my 3rd person, mabye because first person shooters are so common but also I liek to be able to see the charachter

sort of like Fallout 3/nv and oblivion, thease games go for a kind of "jack of all trades" aproach, how ever I definetly prefer 3rd person even if shootings a little harder

I prefer third person. As neat as first person can be it feels too limiting.
also as I noticed comparing fallout 3 to borderlands traveling large distances is more annoying in first person, where as its not so tedious in 3rd person (though you do get vehechles in Borderlands)

Depends on the game. Could you imagine Mirror's Edge in 3rd person? Or Crackdown in 1st? They both have a similar premise, but the perspective is part of what makes each.

Third person. No two ways about it. I'd love to see Mirror's Edge in third person. I mean, you create such a beautiful 3D model, why not show it off?

Depends on the shooter. For Fallout, I occasionally use First Person but I almost always use Third Person, especially when using iron sights, namely for the Hunting Rifle. I find it easier to aim using a crosshair so I have true iron sights off as well.

But for games like Call of Duty and Halo, I always use First Person.

For shooters I perfer first person but shooters like other games the POV doesn't mean as much compared to controls. But for flight games I will not play them if there isn't a cockpit view.

I prefer third person. Don't know why. I just do.

Metal Gear Solid 4 online was one of favorites in this regard.

2nd person was always a fun perspective to play in!

But generally it's 1st for stuff like FPS (seems obvious enough) and 3rd for pretty much everything else.

I like to being able to see my character. That's why I like third person shooters better then first person. I still love FPSes though.

If it's an rpg third person for me is necessity almost, I want to be able to see all the cool armour I have on me.

I generally prefer 3rd person, but sometimes 1st person is the only way a game seems to work.

Depends first person is more immersive as a rule but it can be kinda limiting in other areas, for example platforming is harder because obviously when you would be jumping in real life you know exactly where your limbs are and where abouts you are in respect to a ledge, not something that can be emulated in a game obviously. At least in third person to can line yourself up perfectly with the ledge and jump at the very last minute to get the most air. Both have pros and cons I think. Cab depend on story to, much like the first and third person perspectives in a novel, some books just wouldn't feel right if they where done in the other.

3rd person all the way. I can't play a game and not see my character. It doesn't help "put me in the game" and help with immersion to just see 1/2 a gun sticking out from the middle of my screen. It makes me think it was cheaper to do than actually animate a character. I don't know about you, but I can see my chest, shoulders, arms, waist and legs when I am walking or holding a rifle.

It's just easier for them to do, so they make people think 1st person is more realistic. How do they do it? The same way they made people think Braid is a good game, repeating it over and over in previews and reviews.

Third person. Otherwise I start feeling paranoid and always check my back and if there are odd levels, I have to watch where I walk which feels odd.

I love third person. Seeing how you are playing in game rather then a cutscene feels right. I still love FPS so, but not COD

I'm happy either way. Why not just do a Star Wars Battlefront and give us both? Best of both worlds!

I don't really have a preference, however I will say that usually a game that switches from a default third person to first person is a lot more annoying than one that switches from a default first person to third person.
