I would do what they said, I have already been stabbed in a similar situation, and I learnt my lesson, your money is not worth it.
Even if you are willing to die to spend his lone bullet (which is impossible to know he has just one anyway, but I will go with it) chances are if you try and stop him the gun will go off accidentally and possibly hit one of the friends you were trying to protect and while not really your fault, you would have to live with that.

Some details: He has a .44 Magnum,, he's ex-army or something so he's accurate, if you take a step and he notices he WILL shoot you, your in an enclosed room, he's back is to the only door and your against the wall, he's close enough to have all of you in his area of sight and POO!

Do what he wants. Depending on exactly what he wants, he might be easily distracted and then he could be tackled and the weapon could be seized. Or he might just get away with it. Whatever really.

Simple. Throw one man into the guy, tell the 2nd to flank him opposite me, tell the 3rd to shout as a diversionary manuveur, have the 4th charge in hopefully being able to assail the attacker before he stops focusing on the first man, then get behind him, stab him with whatever sharp object i am carrying at the time (rarely ever am I without something sharp, except when I sleep, but I sleep next to 3 sharp objects. And a revolver.) Disarm arm him, then call the police so we can get this whole matter sorted out. The first man will probably be dead so we can prove it's self-defense.
