Where's the "meh" option? Cuz really that's the only one that anyone should be clicking. If you don't like something, stop exposing yourself to it. If you don't expose yourself to it, nobody makes any money off it. If nobody makes any money off it, it stops being made.

It's a simple chain of logic. Ignore the shit you don't like, pay attention to the shit you do like, and stop making threads like this.

What particularly annoys me is that so many people doing them have to do them exactly the same. People got pissed off at sparkly Twilight vampires not because the idea was stupid, but because the idea was new. "Raping the vampire mythos" was how one ratehr uninformed person put it. FFS, vampires have only burned in sunlight since Nosferatu in 1929, have only had fangs since Varney the Vampire.
To be fair, Twilight vampires take the vast majority of the symbolism of "Vampire" (read: immortality, predators of man, the power of faith, etc) and shits all over it. I think the primary reason there was such a negative reaction to it wasn't the new aspects like being sparkly, but instead that the core concept of the vampire was completely subverted.

It didn't help any that Twilight is/was incredibly popular and with that comes the inevitable hipster backlash.

Not to mention the terrible, erratic, and migraine-inducing writing and prose that it was presented with.

Actually you can't put apostrophes in pole answers or else it cuts out the apostrophe and everything that follows it.

"No, you're crazy" would come out as "No, you" and lackthenack's post would be "Oh, for Pete".
I haven't tried this myself, so take it with a grain of salt, but if you use the combo \' for your apostrophe, it should work then.

If my guess is correct, the poll parser thing reads " and ' as the same thing, and so when it hits the first apostrophe it ends the string. Standard programming work around to that is using \' , which basically stands for "character value of apostrophe".

Like I said, I haven't verified it, but it should work.

I would vote for just zombies just to stop this coming out http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1588173/ and stop me from performing a lethal facepalm on myself when this does comes out

No we should not censor media just because you dislike how overdone Zombies and Vampires are. Plenty of people still enjoy them anyway, plus if Vampires were banned then they wouldn't be able to finish Hellsing ultimate =(

EDIT: The thread has convinced me to let vampires off the hook, it was wrong to put them into the same category as zombies. Castlevania fans can put down their torches and pitchforks.
Don't forget us fans of the Legacy of Kain series.

Zombies have been driven into the ground. I get that they're an easy target because they're mindless, already dead humanoids that no one can disagree with them needing re-killing. They're like Nazis and Aliens which we can kill without guilt.

Notice that in almost all modern shooters, our targets rarely have uncovered, human faces. Even men and women will be masked with helmets or balaclavas and/or in some sort of uniform to dehumanise them. But still, zombies are done to death now. If there wasn't another zombie title for the next 5 years, then MAYBE we can think about re-xploring this area.

But Vampires rock. There's not been nearly enough of them in media, let alone games. Apart from the recent Dawnguard, what else in the last 3-4 years has had a vampire in it? Only vampiric games I have are TES series, VTM: Bloodlines and Bloodrayne series that is sorely in need of a sequel, though at this stage, I'd prefer to wait till next gen for it.

TES isn't really a vampire game though. Even when you are one, it's secondary, not particularly important to the game and mostly just for storyline/RP purposes. I would love another game like VTM: Bloodlines, but with more interaction and consequence. It had a great feeling of being undead among the living and vampire society, the need to feed and so on. Sadly CCP bought the license though so we'll never, ever see an offline game, just the MMO :-\

More vamps, less tramps! (I don't have anything against the homeless, they just happen to rhyme with "vamps").

I'm all for this, zombies are waaaayyy overused (plus, they scare the bejeezus out of me). As for vampires, well, let's just remove Twilight and it's knockoffs and call it a day, alright?

I don't mind this. Let the Dead Rising and Left4Dead series be exceptions.
Only let Dead Rising through if they get rid of timed gameplay.

Anyway I like Zombies, when they're done right. Zombies are slow creatures who stumble at you - they DO NOT run. They simple get you by sheer numbers.

EDIT: I watched Twilight the other day and couldn't stop laughing at such a poorly made, terrible story. You can't get rid of it, I haven't laughed so much since I've seen comedy live!!

What about just banning new zombies related material? An outright ban would be banning Left 4 Dead and the Walking Dead series!

While intriguing, it wouldn't do much. It doesn't really address the problem so much as it simply passes it somewhere else. Even if such a ban existed everyone would just hop onto another topic, like sea monsters. Next thing you know we're getting constant rehashes of sea monsters, and even studios forcing sea monster films into the market.

Yes, but we don't use torches and pitchforks - we go use our claws. During the fucking day. Can't hide from us, we can turn to mist and bats.

But I'm also a Vampire fan, so I'll use my influence in the local police to silence OP. Or just Dementate/Dominate him into believing everyone is a zombie.

Never. The moment we stop making media about them is the moment they come true.

Why? I liked Dead Island, I like Left 4 Dead. Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines was one of my personal favorites.

So... No, you're crazy.

No.

I hate the fact that every single person has to make a zombie mod of every game and I hate the pretty boy vampires that girls (and some men I guess) have created to fawn over but censorship is not going to help anything. I've learned to ignore the gaglling band of idiots who thinks adding zombies to something improves it immediately and there constant stream of crap and so can you. Let people make what they want and ignore what you don't like. They will beat that dead horse forever but that's just the way it is.

I'll settle for one month without seeing anything vampire-related on the cover of Entertainment Weekly.

Is there really nothing else going on in the entertainment industry that every other issue has to have effin' True Blood/Vampire Diaries on the cover?
