It's not sexual assult. Should he be punished? Yes, he punched a kid in the balls of course he should. However this punishment belongs nowhere near a court of law. Kids fight, kids get punished for fighting, end of story.

If the bully was choking the kid, then I say that the kid has the right to defend himself. Isn't it even taught in some self-defense classes to go for the crotch if you are attacked?
This case is more assault than it is sexual. The kid was defending himself against a bully and against bullies, you don't fight fair because you have no one to impress.
What should be the real question (or issue, I guess) is WHO taught the kid to defend himself in such a manner or where he learned about the huge male weak point?

Every. single. male. in my year back when I was in school should have been charged with this then. Punching each other in the balls was pretty much a game. Infact other techniques were developed in order to approach other guys without drawing suspicion (aka pulling your fast back to line up the punch) instead people started flicking using the back of the hand to flick said nutsack with the knuckles. This technique was named "Ball slapping".
So OP, do I think this is sexual assault? No.

no, this is not sexual assault, he hit the guy in the crotch because it's a good way to take out someone potentially bigger and stronger than you, not because the guys reproductive organs are located there.

Though truth be told, in my country a teacher was put in jail for 3 days because he removed a fighting student from his class by grabbing him by his coat collar. Kid tripped in the hallwau and called his dad, dad came to school and called the cops, etc, who arrested the teacher 'for his own protection'.
It's a good thing the government jumped the whole situation and unanimously agreed that teachers are the boss in class and should be capable of enforcing that authority. So I guess we're a few years off from being allowed whips in class again. *evil face*

I am going to shoot myself. I feel that this story is a valid justification of that action. I should not have to live on a planet where a seven-year-old child is charged with sexual assault for defending himself from assholes.
