Now I may have said this before on some of my previous threads, but I love fighting games.
I may not be extremely good at them, but I love them just the same. So, I went and reinstalled Street Fighter 4 onto my laptop today, and with my latest driver update, things have been going a lot smoother than they used to(not incredibly so, but still smoother).

And I was just wondering if I should try taking my settings to the limit..sort of.

My settings have been at Medium for the longest time, and for the most part(depends on some stages sometimes), I usually on average get about 55-60 FpS and the game ends up looking like this:

But since the PC version has it's own special features with its added effects(which only work on high) I was wondering if I should use one of those and this is what I got.
For all of them, I got around 50-60 FpS, though I liked the Ink and Watercolour ones the best:

So what do you Escapists think? Should I stay with the constant FpS, or go with the prettiness at the cost of a few?

Constant FPS. Graphics mean nothing if it does run well.
Fiddle around and try to find a middle ground. 30 FPS is a good rate, TV shows run normally at 24 ish so 30 and up will be good.

put as high as you can without it effecting FPS or it will kill your timing and it'll be unplayable

How do you expect to perform well in the game if you don't have a good FpS?
Well it's not that bad.

Medium: 55-60 fps
High: 50-60 fps

It's not that huge of difference, but I suppose everyone's right, with it mattering more since its a fighting game...still kind of sucks that I wont be able to use the PC versions special features.

Personally I've always loved graphics, their soooo pretty but I wouldn't let it harm the gaming experience. I'd just have what the machine can handle without fucking the experience.

Constant FPS. At no point should you ever sacrifice your potential gameplay for eyecandy.

.......why do people compress the pictures when they ask to compare the quality differences?

55-60 compared to 50-60 is pretty much no difference.

Neither is screaming well above 60, neither is crawling below 30-40. If you ask me that's like no difference whatsoever. If it dropped to 40-50, I'd still be playing on high. If it was noticeably stuttery on high compared to medium, I'd leave it at medium.

Generally a dramatic FPS drop will be noticeable, if you can't notice it, then 99% chance of being fine. You could always do 2 half hour runs on each setting, the one you perform better on, stick to.

As someone who plays mainly online, FPS is essential, I don't think I have ever set graphics to high on a game since D2.

Definitely performance over graphics. I can't stand it when my FPS is below 40. Even that's a bit low.

I normally change the settings for the best FPS. What's the point of anything looking pretty if the gameplay is pants? If your system can do it at a good framerate though, I'd go max all the time.
