Money? Really? That's all he offers? The hell with that. I'd piss on that deal. Money isn't worth it. No thanks, chum.

Well I've already had hallucinations that time I got lost in a forest for 5 days and didn't eat anything nor slept enough and it was the worst thing ever, seriously I had no idea what I was doing, where I was going or even where I was, so you are offering me money to get a WAAAAAY worse version of that?! Yeah, I'll pass on the schizophrenia people think I'm crazy enough as it is.
I'm also rather fond of my legs and I LOVE candy way too much to have diabetes, so I guess I will take my health, though if you would take my left eye for 1/2 a million pounds I wouldn't mind, I mean it's not like it works anyway.

I went for the first option, I can use my multiple personalitys to enjoy things I wouldn't normally!
Schizophrenia is not the same as multiple personality dissorder...
Schizophrenia means you're hearing voices and seing things, multiple personallity dissorder is a whole other dissorder, just sayin'

On Topic:
I'm going to pick health instead of money thank you
I live in a situation at the moment were I think health is more important than the 5 mil.
I'm happy and I have the money I make every month living a good life even if it isn't a huge amount of money.

Well, considering I already have Type 1 diabetes, I'll take that option.
If I can't, then I'll roll with the loss of legs. I'd rather not go crazy, and I can live without legs. Not really a sporty person anyways, so there's that.

Nope, I wouldn't make a Faustian deal that I don't get to personally dictate the terms of.

If, on the other hand I could devise a deal of my own, things could well go a different way.

Uh-oh, my "Christian senses" are tingling. I think I will just avoid the Devil altogether and run like hell if his presence is even remotely near. I'd prefer not to encounter the Devil at all because that would be kind of effing soul risking scary.

The devil solicits you at night, guaranteeing a fortune*. On one condition: you have to undertake a considerable handicap. Which do you choose? Bear in mind that all of these will be permanent and affect you for the rest of your life. Rest assured, the devil will honour their end of the agreement.

You'd make a terrible Devil, just me, but Amputation and Diabetes sounds alot more friendly then being schizophrenic. How the hell would you know that it won't cause you to give all your money to a hallucination that is actually a fire or something? That's the kind of thing I...ahem...I mean, thats the kind of thing the Devil would probably do.

But anyway, I'm....I mean the Devil isn't about to make any of you offers, besides I prefer souls anyway.
Assuming that you-- err, the Devil were real, if people were making deals with yo- er him, do you really think that they're exactly heaven-bound? I think that you can probably expect their souls in about 50-70 years anyways.

Well I wouldnt because 5 mill really isnt that much all things considered these days. But if I had to Id take diabetes. It requires a lifestyle change, mainly in diet but otherwise is completely manageable. I know people with both type 1 and 2 diabetes and it doesn't majorly affect them outside of carrying around a few pills or insulin.

On the other hand schizophrenia can be temperamental at the best of time and medication doesn't always work and there really is no coming back from having no legs.

Hmmm... unless you edit the poll so it actually IS a fortune I'd say the devil is scamming you. 5 mil? please. That's a nice chunk of cash but hardly a fortune. Now 100 mil, that was nice, but that's just for the option that will have you dead soon.

What's wrong with 5 million? You can buy yourself a very nice house or two, you won't ever have to work again, you could keep the last million in a good bank account and live off the interest alone. Though that's assuming it's used responsibly. For the average lower or middle class person it is definitely a fortune.
Haven't done much math for investment have have you?

Ok, 1 million, in a bank account. What's a bank account pay for interest by you? Here you'd see under 1%, but let's call it 1% just for fun. That's 10,000/year, BEFORE the tax man gets a shot at it. You can't live for life off of that. And of course even assuming 2% annual inflation, 25 years years from now you would have the buying power of 6K/year.

Let's say you get 4 million in your bank. Now you are up to 40K/year, less tax, so +/- 30K/year depending on where you live. That's survivable if you used the other mil to buy a house, but hardly wealth.

Now lets assume you instead invest AA+ and better bonds and they don't drop in value. Now you are looking at 3% on 4mil so that's 120K. Now you are into serious tax country, so prob you get to keep 80K/year of that. Comfortable, but hardly filthy rich. And, it may not even be all that comfortable considering the rather expensive care you would need with all those problems.
I'm assuming you can get better interest rates in certain savings accounts. Especially once interest rates return to a more palatable rate. This 0.5% nonsense isn't going to last. Also, considering that the UK tax-free allowance is being raised to £10,000 a year, you would not get taxed on any of that.

Even 5% interest would be a good deal.

I've read that many people who develop multiple personalities do so to adapt to multiple situations. I could stand to have some side of me that is more open to social interaction.
pity you wont remember anything that happens though and have also lost a large chunk of time.

as for the topic.. you have a being thats pretty much existed since the begining of time, has seen everytrick, nasty side humanity is capable of, is the best deal maker and loophole artist in existence and you want to try to make a deal with the guy for money.. haha have fun with that.. ill send flowers to your relatives
Hmm, this is true...
