I'm split on this, as I would love to be able to play a Doctor Who game. Problem is, I can't see it working as anything other than an adventure/puzzler. Even then I don't think they could really capture the feel of the series.

BBC Worldwide has confirmed that they are currently in talks about the development of several Doctor Who games.

"We?re having a lot of interesting discussions for a variety of ideas around Doctor Who that are complementary to each rather than in competition with each other ? boxed product console games, virtual worlds and other experiences.

The deals we are looking at are in different spaces, probably looking at overlapping but different audiences and are certainly delivering a different kind of experience. The Doctor Who audience, who love that show, want to have different experiences around it and it has a huge shelf life going back 47 years.
It?s about managing and satisfying expectations of both older and younger audiences."

Yes.
I've always wondered why nobody has never even made a Doctor Who fan game on Adventure Games Studios(or, a Doctor Who AGS game that's actually finished). The only good Doctor Who game I have heard of was Doctor Who: Mines of Terror.
I think a Doctor Who game has a tons of potential. Ofcourse, we should probably garner the most well-received game designers of this decade in order to make it good.

Possible: Yes.
Possibility of a good game: No.

The appeal of Doctor Who comes in two flavours-Cheesy and pop-culture.

Yeah, it's alright, but the older stuff was cheesy, and the new stuff is poorly written.

David Tennant is a good actor, but that's about all the praise I have for the series these days.
... Riiight. I sense a overseriousness within you.

I don't watch Dr Who or know much about it, but they can make a video game about anything. Hell, people made games about Zero Punctuation.

There have been Doctor who games in the past,so yes it is possible.
Were they any good? I hadn't hear of any.
Attack of the Graske [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_of_the_Graske]
Dalek Attack [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalek_Attack]
Doctor Who: Top Trumps [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Trumps:_Doctor_Who]

There was also a Microprose game back on the Beeb I think....sometime about 1980.

But the best of a bad bunch has to be Destiny of the Doctors [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destiny_of_the_Doctors]

It's not great but some of the Anthony Ainley's bits make John Sims look like an amateur. :)

Unfortunately RTD wouldn't know a good idea if it smacked him round the back of the head, or he'd never have thought of Tosswood.
never knew there was a game on the PC from the looks of it. The Destiny of the doctors certainly looks interesting when I looked at some of the gameplay footage. I don't have any confidence that a decent Dr Who video game could be made but there might be a smart way of doing it.

I hate most of the new people in the new TV series so I would personally break the game disc in half if that annoying dip-shit Rose Tyler was in it but she's not as bad as Cathrine Tate!!! Gah, that woman is soooo not funny.

Don't have time to read all the posts...but a Doctor Who videogame would contain mainly one thing. Running. Lots and lots of running. :'D

I would buy a Doctor Who game on two conditions: (a) if it was based on David Tennant's portrayal of The Doctor with him voicing it, and (b) they keep Catherine Tate and her character out of it. Martha or Rose would be fine.

They were flash games, but they were still games.
And the huge amount of seasons means they should have at least 1 full length game idea.
And I don't want to watch months of solid sci fi.

I think it's perfectly possible but Steven Moffat would have to either write or supervise it so it didn't turn out gash.

I think you could make a good action game, maybe have the Doctor and Jenny meet up and have a good combination of brainy puzzle type stuff and kick ass combat sections.

Seeing as the revamped series bigs up the morality ect. of The Doctor, there could be some sort of choice system, which affects the outcomes of each story, which all comes together at the end of the game in a big story arc.

It would also be feasible to do a "build your own companion" and have David Tennant back as the Doctor and set it between Journey's End and The End of Time, or have the companion meet all the incarnations of the Doctor...

I'm going to stop now, but yes, A good Doctor Who game is doable and I would love to see it. the only problem is that it would only be too easy to screw up. In saying that, Batman beat all the odds and Arkham Asylum was awesometastic.

Oh God, I would kill to see The Doctor doing Faith's moves. That would be so kick-ass!

I could imagine it being like the old Discworld games... Or Broken Sword, But with a slight bit more urgency to get on with things...
Y'know what with the world usually being in trouble...

Although I don't if point and click adventure games are really a Genre that the gaming comunity even take muhc notice of anymore...
I liked Discworld, except for its memory-eating ways! I enjoyed Mist and Legend of the Lotus Spring. I wouldn't mind another such game but I think that I would prefer a Mass Effect or Oblivion engine for a Dr. Who game myself. So much to explore!

Scenario based, think Fahrenheit, but more interactive, (maybe Telltale-ish).

As the episode plays out, a typical Doctor Who problem presents itself, and you can solve it in a multitude of different ways.

It would be cool, as you could make the story branch out, and possibly make the game reach different conclusions.
