Probably not, since I don't want to lose faith in the group of humanity I think of myself as belonging to. And prolonged interaction with anybody usually ends up resulting in that.

You'd have to be very careful about how you go about this... I've seen many places go under because they think it's going to be huge.

One thing about geeks, we love to haunt places - that means you'll have to pull us from our usual dark corners somehow... Including of course, our friend's basement which is much cheaper than a bar. Offer something we don't have, like a nice small menu and late hours - possibly rent out private rooms with tables and chairs?

A geek bar sounds awesome. As long as it has a lot of shiny objects, video games, and geeks. You would need to have a lot of geeks in your town though. And you'd have to advertise it as a gaming bar or something. Otherwise imagine the look on the face of the tourist who walks in to find that this bar is an arcade filled with geeks...

Haha hey! My friends and I would so go to a geek bar to pick up nerds, maybe roll some dice if ya know what I mean...

Really, I mean play Dungeons and Dragons... Our group is a bit low since Greg and Eric left /tear.

Only counting for the fact that the boys can get their eyes off our boobs long enough to talk to them >.o

Basically, make a gamer/hobby center that seves food. Have food and beer in one area, one corner of arcade, and all tables could double as gaming table for Warhammer and such.
There's actually a place quite like this (sans beer, actually I think BYOB) called OrcTech, about an hour from where I live. Haven't been in a while, but a fun place to hang out.

Clearly you move in the wrong geek circles, I know more geeky girls than I know geeky guys at the moment. But it's true that a "geek bar" might have that problem... however the whole "meat market" thing is also not the goal, this would not be a hook up place, this would be a place for drinking, hanging out and being weird in peace.

Personally no I wouldn't go to a Geek Bar, however it seems like a good idea.
You could cater to geek, nerds, and excessive gamers without then getting all nervous about going out due to their life styles. :)
Could try having a back room or something with multiplayers games,
Posters or rather good games,
And geeks/nerds/excessive gamers could discover female geeks/nerds/excessive gamers. o.0

Most geeks like to socialize on the COMPUTER. NOT IN PERSON>
Clearly we know different types of people, most of the geeks I know are extroverts who like things like bars, dancing, meeting new people... you know, real life social things. Most ofg them discarded their internet "social lives" when they finished school.

I prefer Irish pubs, but I would go to a greek bar. Yeah, that sounds cool. There could be statues of Greek gods and goddesses all around.

Wait, you said GEEK bar......yeah, sure.

How would you theme a bar around geeks? Alcoholic beverages and computers don't really mix--not unless you want to be replacing shorted-out keyboards a lot.

The Local Gaming Store is a pretty regular feature in the U.S. though, and I think it'd work well as a restaurant if you could find an area that was really saturated with gamers.

I would. Maybe meet a nice geek woman, bring her back to my house for some Halo 3 multi-player.
