Poll: A Left-Handed Gaming Mouse!!! FINALLY!

Well, for some of us left-handed people; this may come as a surprise. Someone ACTUALLY bothered to make a left-handed ergonomic gaming mouse. I like my Diamondback I got from Razer, it's a great mouse, but it's always missed something... and this is it. Of course, the thing is already back-ordered, so I won't be ordering one quite yet, but believe me- and I think I'm talking for all lefty gamers here- this was WAY overdue. I mean, Jesus, all it took is to flip their model for the normal Deathadder on it's horizontal axis. It was that simple.

I have another question to any other lefty's on Escapist- What do you use instead of WASD? I use PL:" if anyone cares. It's actually better than WASD- I can use all the keys around me. Nothing like caps lock being a wasted key, and using my pinky for only shift..

I should be left handed by my superstitious mother use to smack my left hand when I did use it. Now I'm right handed and when the hot girl appears on the TV I'm at a complete loss as what to do. Damn asians...

Wait, people actually buy ergonomic mice? Isn't that kinda like a nice comfy chair for the desk where you stick your arm in a vice? I've never once in my life thought holding a mouse was uncomfortable, but half the reason I don't play PC games much anymore is that the angle I have to hold my arm at makes my shoulder seriously hurt after a couple hours. Is that just me then?

I'm a lefty, but I doubt I'll be buying this because I've gotten so used to doing things the way of the oppressive majority, I would find it hard to switch.

There have definitely been left handed mice for a long time now. An admin on another forum I go to is left-handed and has been using a mouse for several years that is for lefties and has extra buttons (I think he busted up his right arm pretty good).

I didn't think left handers needed a mouse. Any mouse that I've had always had an option in the settings to flip the buttons so you could use it with your left hand.

But then again, I'm not left handed, so can't say too much about it.

Well, it's more the fact that gaming mice normally look something like that VV, and the fact that using something like that is really uncomfortably to use a mouse like that for more than ten minutes with your left hand.

Ambidextrous mice are OK, but if you want one with buttons on the side, you are pretty much restricted to two mice- the Razer Diamondback, and the Razer Lachesis. And it would be nice to have another choice or two when you want to get a decent mouse.

I'm already used to using my right hand to use the mouse. And it would take a lot of getting used to, to switch to a left handed mouse.

you'd be correct. I'm left handed, but I game with my right handed mouse. It would feel weird gaming left handed. I guess I'm sort of ambidextrous now.
WSAD would feel wierd on the right hand with my mouse hand being my left. I couldn't do it.

Yeah, I kinda never became ambidextrous like most lefty's do (I couldn't hit the broad side of the barn if I were to try to throw a dart with my right hand), so it's just about impossible for me to use my right hand for gaming...

That's only if you want the really crazy expensive gaming mice. I got a decent one for relatively cheap, and It works for me just fine. Not as many buttons (only two in the side), but I only really care about adjusting dpi on the fly. My mouse is the Logitech MX518. Low-tech I know, but for me works.
-edit- also... my mouse was designed with the hand in mind. I can game for hours without pain.

Using right handed stuff really isn't a huge issue, hell, after 20 years of being forced to use my right hand for everything, I'm better at doing things with it than I ever was with my left hand. [except writing... but who writes anymore, in this age of technology?]

So yea... I really can't see a point in spending money on a left handed mouse, and then needing to get a left handed keyboard for comfort, and then dealing with weeks of readjusting, when using right handed stuff works just fine.

Hell, if I could, I would get a gaming mouse on the low end of the spectrum. But looking at pictures of the mouse you posted, it'd still be uncomfortable after a little while of using it. And besides, it'd piss me off that there are two perfectly good buttons on the damned thing that I couldn't even use.

that's strange though. I can't throw a ball for crap with my right arm, but I'm fine with my left, and yet I'm pretty damn good with a mouse online (probably above average).
