That's only if you want the really crazy expensive gaming mice. I got a decent one for relatively cheap, and It works for me just fine. Not as many buttons (only two in the side), but I only really care about adjusting dpi on the fly. My mouse is the Logitech MX518. Low-tech I know, but for me works.
Hell, if I could, I would get a gaming mouse on the low end of the spectrum. But looking at pictures of the mouse you posted, it'd still be uncomfortable after a little while of using it. And besides, it'd piss me off that there are two perfectly good buttons on the damned thing that I couldn't even use.
What two buttons are useless? One of them opens up my documents(the one closest to the logitech logo), the two at the top and bottom change the dpi, and the two on the side are whatever you want them to be(or scroll forward and back on web browsers). It only cost me $69, and it's damn comfy.
-edit- It actually cost me $67.99.
also, i have a special mousepad that has a gel rest for my wrist, so that might help with why I don't get carpal tunnel or any pain because i can actually rest on my mousepad.

you are aware that most of razers mice have had an ambidextrous design so that they can be used by either right handed people or southpaws, correct?

you'd be correct. I'm left handed, but I game with my right handed mouse. It would feel weird gaming left handed. I guess I'm sort of ambidextrous now.
WSAD would feel wierd on the right hand with my mouse hand being my left. I couldn't do it.
Yeah, I kinda never became ambidextrous like most lefty's do (I couldn't hit the broad side of the barn if I were to try to throw a dart with my right hand), so it's just about impossible for me to use my right hand for gaming...

Oh wait... it says "... first GAMING mouse..."

Yeah, I guess they can claim that.
I'm not sure, I think it's been done.
It might have... But I sure as hell couldn't find one....
that's strange though. I can't throw a ball for crap with my right arm, but I'm fine with my left, and yet I'm pretty damn good with a mouse online (probably above average).
I almost want to put up a video of me using WASD now.... Of course, it's 3am and I don't really want to actually do that...

I'll repeat again, I am using a DIAMONDBACK 3G.

Woo, finally some compatibility. Here I thought us left handeds were almost banished from the lands. I had to scoure the earth and back for a damn left handed accoustic guitar, and it was still a cheap and nasty.

My good old

Is identical on both sides, so you can flip it in the settings. Razer is great I reckon.

I have one of these. Awesome mouse. I don't see why we need a specialist lefty mouse.

OP: I use the arrow keys. Sure, I don't have as many keys around my hand, but it works well enough.

Wait, people actually buy ergonomic mice? Isn't that kinda like a nice comfy chair for the desk where you stick your arm in a vice? I've never once in my life thought holding a mouse was uncomfortable, but half the reason I don't play PC games much anymore is that the angle I have to hold my arm at makes my shoulder seriously hurt after a couple hours. Is that just me then?
I think the problem is you, or rather the height of the desk and/or the chair, which result in an uncomfortable angle.

+1 I have adapted and now I'm using a Razer Mamba mouse.
Plus I don't have to chnage the default keys.

I think that a majority of left handed PC gamers have "magically" adjusted.

Just like lefty console gamers aren't like to use the "southpaw" options for controllers.

Since we all had to learn to use a right-handed mouse when using computers, I doubt many left-handed people (myself included) will buy this. It'll almost be like reteaching yourself something that you do by habit already. But for mini-lefties learning to use a computer, this'll be good. But then, they'll be forced to buy one brand for a while. :p

Now for the stupid question.

Since most mice are symmetrical, what's to stop you just swapping the functions of left and right click and be done with it?

Hell, Razer was just about the only company that made symmetrical gaming mice, anyway.

You can, but I (and many other people) enjoy having buttons on the side. And symmectrical+ buttons on the side gaming mice are few and far between. I have said this in just about every other post I made.

If I, as a lefty, were to use the mouse you have, I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the two buttons on the side.

Bout time, I hate these contoured Mice since they are almost always right handed. I have a Steelseries Xai now so I won't be picking this up; still it is good to see such a thing from Razer. As for Southpaw layout, I suspect that alot of left handed people don't even know such options exist. The second problem with Southpaw layout is that most of the time the layout is fundamentally broken because whoever created it is too stupid to actually look at the controller before they set the buttons.
