Let´s play the imaginary game, shall we?

You wake up in a room. There is a wall made of Bullet-proof glass seperating you from ten other people. In the middle of your room, there´s two buttons. The people on the other side look like reasonably happy men and women. They have average clothing and nothing points to any unfortunates commited by them.

Suddenly, you hear a voice. "There are two buttons. One will bombard the other room with White Phospherous, an extremely flamable substance, it won´t stop burning until everything is dead. The other button will fill your room with gas. Within one minute, you will be unconcious, within five, dead. You won´t feel a thing. If you burn the other room, you will be free to leave. If you kill yourself, the other room will be free to leave."

You can see through the glass. There is also a microphone in the other room, so you will hear them burn. Which button do you press?

BONUS: If you kill the others, the mad man might never be found. I mean think about, what would you do? Run up to the police and tell the situation to them? Without evidence or witnesses? If you kill yourself, the police might have a chance.

Me? Sorry buds, but i kind of want to live. There you burn.

Yes. Kill them all. I know it sounds cold, but screw those I don't know, I am more concerned with the one I know more than any other, myself.

While I have no idea why they would look reasonably happy in this situation, I'm not worth hurting one person, let alone actually killing ten.

So, gas it is. At least it's a reasonably nice method?

Ideally, I'd kill myself and save them.
Realistically, I'd probably kill them.

Though, knowing me I'd talk to them and see where it goes, if they're going to do the world more good than I will if I lived. Make an informed decision, hopefully.

Obviously it's a test and the buttons are reversed, so I go with the pseuicide option.

Took the sentiment right outta my mind.

I'd like to think that I'd willingly die to save others, especially as my life is pretty much worthless, but I'm a survivalist.

Oddly enough if instead I were to stop ten people from getting killed by holding back armed attackers I'd probebly save the group, I'm not sure why.

With the amount of faith I've lost in humanity I would be remiss if I let those people live over me.

Trace the signal back to the source of the voice, use the Force to choke the controller, rescue the people on the other side, find out who put me in this situation in the first place and place them in a similar situation, except instead of 10 random people, it is all of their friends, family, and/or everyone they care about.

You said imaginary game, right? This is my imaginary answer.

You know, if i were to make a list of the things that annoyed me most on these forums, people dodging questions when there´s no possibility of doing so would stand pretty high.

It's impossible to have a deep emotional caring for more than so many people at a time. It's been observed in monkeys, and it's why I'd burn them, I'd feel horrible, but i have a much deeper connection to myself than complete strangers.

BWAHAHA! you've fallen right into my trap! the man that was speaking to you was an innocent person that i forced into speaking for me!

anyways, i would kill them, and then commit suicide so that' i could find them in the afterlife and apologize for killing them,

Let them die, to be honest I am quite fond of living. Not too concerned about the lives of people I don't know. Hell, even if I knew them, would not be a tough decision.

Kill them. It's natural instincts to want to survive no matter the cost.

I would push NEITHER BUTTON. If you kill them (ie press the button) your a murderer of the innocent. If you push the other button you just committed suicide, which is a shameful and dishonorable way to die.

Better to do nothing, then if they die it's on the murderer. If you die it is on the murderer as well.

I don't negotiate wit terrorists, and I am ready to die. You can't trust that you will be released safely anyways.

I'm good with being horrible. I'd kill em all no regrets. Anything else would go against the preservation of my own life... sorry, I'm just being honest here.

I'm afraid I would choose to kill them. Since in this situation id probably think about this a long time, I would just think about how all who I know would miss me etc. While it would be hard to humanise the 10 people in this situation.

OR THE JOKER OPTION: Since they are all "relatively happy" when trapped in a bulletproof glass room with no way out, I would come to the conclusion that they are all mad and burn them all with no remorse.
