It would be cool to go to Mars, but honestly I think it would get really boring really quickly. No internet, no friends, no family...

Just a dry, cold, desert wasteland.

I would go simply because my life here has only just began, I would love to be one of the brave crew that goes to colonize Mars. And on a sidenote I would probably only bring a few items for nostalgia's sake, Darth Vader statuette, picture of my mom, dad, and sisters, and a lot of blank books and pens so I can write down what I experience there.

Yes, I'm going to college for physics, my dream is to live on a moon or a planet... And build the worlds first actual lightsaber.

I would be interested in going even if I haven't been reading the Mars books. We may never have gene therapy to extend lives in the near future. The planet may never be terraformed enough to let animals wander around outside city tents. Heck, the first colonists may even die to something going horribly wrong in the first five Earth years.

Despite all the stuff that may never happen, I'd still want to go just to see what actually does.

You've read the Mars books by Kim Stanley Robinson?

Yep! I'm about 2/3 through Blue Mars and itching to find out what big drama is going to happen at the end. That or something got in my shirt. *Itch itch*

I'd go if my gf went with me. I'd also bring the aforementioned 10 personal items, wich would include some games, my PS3, and a tv.

God, who would be crazy enough to do this shit? You're going to live the rest of your life on a barren world in a tiny compartment with the same people. Say goodbye to nice outdoors walks. Say goodbye to that first refreshing breeze of air. Say goodbye to new people and places. All you've got is a lifeless red wasteland to look at from behind a window for the rest of your life.

I feel sorry for the idiots beind born right now who are going to be a part of that shit.

While it does sound exciting, I don't think it would be very comfortable. I very much like the comfort I have here on Earth.

Do they even have broadband on Mars?

Maybe if I was allowed to bring a TV-set and every anime ever produced...
yes the internet moves at the speed of light but it would be hard to play multiplayer games because of the lag but you could still download

depends if mating would be allowed. I wonder how the different gravity of Mars would effect the development of a human. We know earth's gravity is absolutely essential to the early development of a fetus. So I would like to read some more up on that, or if its just a No child births only immigrants type of thing.

I would be interested in it for 1000% sure. I mean its everything I play games to pretend. Adventure, space travel, city building, and possibly archeology? eh eh? okie maybe not the last one but you get what I mean!
