There are perfect games, but they only ever appeal to an extremely certain kind of person, take me for example, I find that Bioshock was perfect,as well as Dead Space, and expect the sequels to be brilliant as well.

Whereas my friend who only ever seems to play online finds Bioshock to be the worst game ever because, and i quote: "The story is shit and the guns are awful"
I mean obviously he's narrow minded but still a game can only be perfect to a certain set of people.
Bioshock's story is shit? What games does your friend play, I found the story to be deep and compelling.

13 strikes in 10pin Bowling. There... I said it... and I'm sorry.

OT: A perfect game for me (ie: not necessarily everyone else's idea of perfect) would have to be WoW. Even though I've quit, I'm still really tempted to go back, but because of my career and other responsibilities, I wouldn't be able to get enough out of it to make £9/month worthwhile. Maybe when I retire....

Go.

In video games? Maybe Mario Kart 64, I still play that every week like 12 years after it's come out, and I'm getting better every time.

I'm sure that they'll get nerfed in the next patch.

OT: There never will be a perfect game (at least not from an objective standpoint), we'll just have to settle for those really good ones instead.

no. people have come close, but no. take a great game, mother 3 for instance. I hear it's great, but I don't like for the fact that I don't like turned based RPGs, no natter what form they take. I just can't get into them and some people can't get into shooters or driving games or really anything beside one genre.

Everyone is saying that no game can be perfect, i think the poster was asking about games people thought were perfect. Yes, everyone knows that perfection is unobtainable, there are thirty+ posts about that, but that kind of makes this into a "your favorite game" thread, so o well, i like fire emblem series, MW2(it has flaws but i still play it for hours on end, nothing is going to be flawless but some things are so good u can overlook their flaws) , assassin's creed series, Fable (1 more than 2) Super Smash Bros series
No, actually I was asking if people tought perfect games were even possible to happen. People starting naming "their" perfect games on their own - which is also a good topic, as it generates a lot of good gaming suggestions.
BTW I also loved SSB series - but not to the point of seeing no flaws at it - it's hard to make a 100% balanced fighting game, so that's a "natural flaw" for the genre.

As i said, he only looks for the multiplayer in a game and something to test his 'skills' in, so i guess he found Bioshock to be slow paced, probably because he used to play a bit of CounterStrike and Unreal Tournement, and has now moved to MW2

Oh, you're just looking at it through a father's eyes.

Okami was pretty close to perfect. Except that the platforming could sometimes be a bit iffy and the game went on for to long.
