Bad list, but I've listened to Disturbed most out of it.

But seriously, put Maiden on that list before I hit you.

Sorta like Mushuggah and Disturbed
Avenged Sevenfold is pretty good
and Blind Guardian rocks
I'm not much into metal/headbanger music in general though

Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, (Do Floyd count?)
Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are not metal.
Zeppelin were the Kings of Metal.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_honorific_titles_in_popular_music#cite_note-245)
Led Zeppelin are a rock band, they are not metal, they sound nothing like metal!

Ok, given that heavy metal is a sub genre of rock, "Early heavy metal bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple attracted large audiences,"(Wiki Heavy Metal), and this song
don't convince you, I'll assume you'll not be adding Steppenwolf, Iron Butterfly or even Purple Haze.
Though if you add Europe, Poison or others, I'll just wash my hands of the whole debacle.

And hell's teeth, missing out Van Halen???

Quick question, how could you put in someone as obscure as Blind Guardian but leave out metal gods such as Slayer or Anthrax?

Rage Against The Machine
Out of the options above probably Korn though, and why is there no Metallica choice? I've never even heard of Strapping Young Lad

Out of the list: Meshuggah

But, I've never been huge into metal in general. But off the top of my head, I'd vote for the Melvins. If it weren't for King Buzzo, you wouldn't have half of the sounds you're currently grateful for.

The genre metal didn't even exist till Judas Priest somehow brought it up and even then Led Zeppelin has been considered the greatest hard rock band ever. Also Wikipedia isn't always true, I have searched alot of things on Wiki and alot of it was false.

If we are going to count Led Zeppelin as a heavy metal band, then you might as well put -

Deep Purple
Steppenwolf
Jimi Hendrix
Guns N Roses
Aerosmith
Blue Oyster Cult
Eric Clapton
Queen
AC/DC
Master's Apprentices
Alice Cooper
And every other greatest rock band in the world!

Electric Wizard! By a very long way, followed by Converge, then Cryptopsy, then Evoken.

Doom + grind = THE FUTURE.

EDIT: I don't acctualy like any of the bands on the poll, Strapping Young Lad have a couple of good songs but not enough to make me vote for them.

I admit it's a hard choice to mix between Death Metal, Poodle Rock, Glam Rock and the like, but Heavy Metal is usually defined as strong bass and drums, dark lyrics and the lead guitar/lyricist duelling.

But if you're looking at Kashmir (match against G&R November Rain or Paranoid) and The Immigrant Song (match against Maiden's Run To The Hills) then you can put them as metal, Stairway matches to Bohemian Rhapsody (And Queen so are metal) but how would you define the difference between Rock and Heavy Metal?
