I'd have Welsh on my passport if I had the choice. I'm proud of being Welsh, not Madcat loopy proud, but proud. That said I have no problems saying I?m British either. I guess the best way to put it would be:

Depends. If that idiot Alex Salmond gets his way and Scotland becomes independant then all residents of Scotland would have to get new passports with Scottish as a nationality. But it's ok because everyone in Scotland will vote no and Salmond will walk away with his tail between his legs and we can get on with being part of the UK.

Change my passport? That seems like too much hassle for something so inconsequential. I'm English yeah, but I'm also British so I don't know why being labelled British is a problem.

The English have also screwed over the other nations, they closed every Coal Mine in Wales and ruined thousands of Welsh Families before they even considered closing ONE English Mine.
In sports I will NEVER support England, in the Olympics I will support Welsh, Scottish and Irish athletes but I will not support one English Athlete.

Yeah, I hate how the "English government" has such utter control over everything. Y'know, what with all the Scottish/Welsh/Irish MPs being able to vote on matters that only affect English people, but the reverse not being true ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Lothian_question ). Oh, and that Scottish Prime Minister we had a couple of years ago, who was Chancellor of the Exchequer for years before that. Yeah, all totally English.

Seriously, there's no such thing as a separate "English parliament." There's a National Assembly for Wales, a Scottish Parliament and a Parliament of Northern Ireland, but no purely English equivalent.
And while we're on the subject of you having English rule forced on you, I guess all us English should throw off our Germanic shackles imposed on us by the Saxons. Or rally against Scandinavian imperialism because of the Vikings. Or reclaim our liberty from the French after that nasty 1066 Norman Conquest business. How far back do you want to go? Hell, pretty much everyone in Europe (and parts of Africa and Asia) should fight back against those bloody Italians. In the immortal words of Monty Python: Romanes eunt domus!

Ummm... what you've got there is a (contentious, possibly at least partially fabricated in the 18th century) pre-medieval system. But I'm glad you raise these systems, because as someone who was born and raised in the early medieval kingdom of Wessex, I've been feeling increasingly uncomfortable with those dastardly East Anglians. And don't even get me started on the Mercians... *sigh*
One British government did that before most people on here were born. A government that is still massively unpopular with large numbers of English people (and not just those in traditionally working class areas either).
Being a tad racist there, don't you think? No doubt if I held the same attitude but only supported English athletes you'd seize upon it as an example of "English racism."
