Do any of my fellow PS3 owners still have the pre-2009 versions of the console?

I still have my 80GB from early 2007, except I've upgraded my version with a 500 GB internal laptop hard drive (which was cheaper than buying the one Sony released for the console BTW).

I did this because space was running low and I have a lot of games and saves from the previous two previous consoles that I'll still play, also there was no way I'd shell out $300 for a new system, plus loads more cash to buy back my beloved PS/PS2 classics.

I think you'll find many people don't.

They're really hard to get ahold of. The people who have them are the sort of people who'd frequent this site though, so maybe.

I do, because it was the version I got given as a gift from my parents. Still works really well, too. I take good care of my technology, and especially of my gaming consoles.

I still have mine, though it did YLOD once. I repaired it though and since then, about 1½ years ago, it's been running smoothly. I take good care of my consoles, especially one as rare as a pre-2009 version. I don't have all that many PS2 games, but having that feature is awesome and to me, well worth making sure my console doesn't break down... [sub]again[/sub]

I did until recently, it even managed to shrug off several YLODs, but it died a few months ago.

Well they're pretty rare for one, but mostly it is because many people were unhappy with the removal of backwards compatibility that all pre-September 2009 models had. Many such as myself also think the design looked better before. To me and others the sleek and shiny design was better than the rugged texture and greyish colour that the new models had.

Yeah still got one and it still runs fine it dosent play FFVIII though which was moderately annoying all other games I have tried have been backwardly compatible on it. (although I usually just use the PS2).

Still got my original 360 as well although that did red ring on me but I fixed it at least for the time being.

I still have a 60GB launch model. Still going strong, though the fan has gotten quite noisy.

I suppose I can't expect it to last forever, but I'm hoping to get at least another year out of it.

I still have it.
Besides one complete loss of data due to stupid family members, it works great.

Afraid not. My first broke due to overheating (the internet browser is the worst culprit) and now I have a 2011 160GB slim.

Nope. Sold my 40GB to my brother's friend and upgraded to a 250GB. When the Blu-Ray reader in that one busted Sony replaced it with a 320GB for free.

I myself have the slim, but my sister still has a 60gb PS3, and it seems to work pretty fine.

I bought one of the 60gb numbers second hand, and I still have it, though the HDMI port is damaged.

69 gig models have the most backwards compatibility. As time marches on, more and more games hit the classic list and this feature remains relevant. You have to be able to play what you love.
