Orlando, FL - seriously, what is there to see? Why should I visit? I really don't know.
Disney World/Universal?

Seriously, you've never heard of Disney World? It's only the most visited theme park IN THE WORLD.
I have heard of Disney World. I didn't associate Orlando with it, though. And now I know.

I watched this awesome three part documentary (BBC) about Yellowstone. It seems like an incredibly beautiful and interesting place. Not like there isn't plenty of natural wonders to admire here too, but it would be different.

I've played quite a lot of live poker (really dislike online) so Las Vegas would be cool too.

New York, for New York. And I could and would love to properly meet a friend, after 8 years without seeing, who lives in DC.

LA and Hawaii would be interesting too.

Oh, San Fransisco, definitely. To be honest, there's not much of America outside California that interests me, save maybe Tornado chasing in Iowa, or going to New York (although I'm so completely burned out of New York being in every second goddamned videogame lately).

San Francisco just seems so different to the rest of the US: more relaxed, peaceful, and bonkers design- seriously I'd love to just experience those hills and gaze over them letting the crazy car chases of my imagination run wild. Plus, it still has trams. Mad props for that.

I've been all over the East coast already, though most of the time was spent in Bodymore, Murderland.

*complicated hand gesture*

New York was ace and camping in Vermont was very special but everywhere else was pretty awful. The people were great everywhere though, Americans are lovely.

Apart from in Miami. Everyone in Miami is terrible and the city looks cheap.

I would like to travel to the West coast and it'd be nice to start in San Francisco, but I wouldn't go unless I befriended some people over there first.

From Holland, been to New York and was slapped in the face by how tv and movies had biased my view of America.

I know New York is kinda different from many other cities in US, but at least it piqued my interest, might visit other parts now. :)

New York is the preferable option of the ones you listed. Other than those I'd like to visit New Orleans and Boston.

Not for the usual tourist reasons either. There's a lot of great music related stuff in these cities. One of my dreams is to go on a punk fueled roadtrip across the USA.

i'd like to visit beijing, tokyo and moskow if i get a chance. oh, and also london :)

explanation: in the original post it was nowhere mentioned that one couldn't pick something outside of the US, while the poll itself suggests that the op thinks only places within US teritory are of touristical interrest (i'm actually pretty shure this was not the intention)

please dont get angry, i just wanted to phrase my nitpicking in a slightly funy way :)

That poll doesn't include the most interesting parts of the country. The huge cities are ok, but cities are the same anywhere.

What about the Grand Canyon in Arizona, or Mesa Verde in Colorado? Sonoran Desert in Arizona or Chihuahuan desert in southwest Texas? The Hoh Rainforest or Mt Ranier in Washington state? The only remaining primordial forest in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina? The Natural Land Bridge or Luray Caverns in Virginia? The Catskills in Northern New York?

I could go on for a while, but when visiting the states, you should really consider more than just the obvious tourist destinations. There are a whole lot of pretty amazing things to see away from the glare of the cities.

Edit: A lot of worry about muggings in NYC? I lived in Brooklyn for 2 years. If you have even a modicum of common sense, you won't get mugged. Its a really great place to visit, but I wasn't too fond of living there. Too many people.

I've been to New York and Alabama/Tennessee, so I don't really want to go there again. Well I do, I loved it there, but seen as its expensive to get to and stay in America, I'd rather go somewhere I've never been before...

First on my list would be New Orleans. I just love everything I hear about the place, and the surrounding area.
But of the ones you mentioned, LA or Vegas would be the ones. But I think I'd prefer LA a slight bit more.

I went to Florida once again last year and it was fun, went to the usual theme parks and suck. :D

This time I would love to go to New York and stay for three or 4 days looking around and such, but I wouldn't know if I would need more longer or such. Any ideas for what to do in New York?

(I would love to meet ChilledChaos, one of my favorite Youtubers.)

When I visited the states years ago I went to LA and San Fran, so next time I visit I plan to go to New York at the very least. Also would like to experience Vegas, especially because it's super cheap.

Definitely for me, San Francisco, I've always loved Port Cities, and oddly enough, the city can thank Michael Bay for my choice. It looked like a lovely town, when Nicholas Cage isn't chasing Sean Connery through it.

That depends which states have Mediterranean temperature without ungodly humidity..... you know what on second thoughts I'd rather just go Spain.

Washington.

Its got most of the historical stuff I'd want to see located there and... its Washingtom...

Honestly... there isn't much else I'd want to see in the US. Sure I am curious about a few other things but they are too spreadout for the effort. The only other thing I'd ever go to the US for would be some form of convention. That's it really...

I'd love to get a group together and take the harley to yellowstone. However, that's one hell of a long ride from Texas.

I'm not a big city person so I have no desire to visit most of those cities even though I been to several of them. Hitting up Hawaii would be great. I've been to a couple of tropical locals and loved it. Vegas....I love Vegas. I'm always up for a Vegas trip.

Personally I'm more interested in visiting Boston or Chicago, mostly because of the interesting stories I've read about them and the good things I've heard. Would be alright with visiting some of the other locations but none of them really catch my fancy.

Why is Gotham City not on this list? I had heard it was the world's greatest city, if a bit troubled.
