well depending on where you live, your currency may be valued less than ours, and therefore you may pay more "dollar" wise, but in reality you're paying the same amount.

For example, if 2 Austrailian dollars equaled one American dollar (not accurate at all, but for sake discussion play along) then an American game at 50 american dollars and an Austrailian game at 100 aussie dollars would technically be the same price, and therefore, be worth the same amount.

I love the GameStop near me, not for the store as much as for the staff. I really love just walking in sometimes to look around and talking with them. The employees at my local store and my friends local store actually know their games, I even strike up conversions with other customers now and then. I still hate the fact that I get a pittance in return for used games that they then resell for 30 dollars or more. But I can't complain at all about the staff.

At least according to the poll as of now allot of people feel like I do. They hate the companies policies but love the staff.

I actually like gamestop if only for the staff. I only sell/trade games to my friends anyway.

The only beef I really have is that they (and other game retailers) are often REALLY light on PC games. Come on, we're video gamers too. I do like the spiffy displays though.

Gamestop doesn't exist in Australia, so I don't really know...

EB games is your equivalent it's pretty much the same as far as i can tell

I don't think I've ever had a problem with Gamestop. I do all my game shopping either there, or on the internet.

I would have to say this for my only possible reason to not like them. I have noticed that their PC section is usually rather sparse. Then again, I have a Mac, so if I'm to locate a game for such a computer, I'll instead place my trust in the Apple Store's game section.

As far as I know EB games is a subsidiary of Gamestop, and my only experience has been with them, so I'll talk about that. I almost always buy my games there, because they tend to have the lowest prices, and they lower their prices sooner than other retailers. My one problem with them is that over 50% of the used games I've purchased there have been broken, so I don't buy used games anymore.

I'm pretty neutral about it. I'll get games there if they are cheap but that is it.

I voted the first one, but my "hate" for Gamestop isn't really as simple as.

I dislike the politics. The service I've had is bad, and I've been screwed over by incompetence on both the sales level and management level. The prices are overinflated, and while I do not blame them, I won't get half or less of what I can get on eBay for a title or pay ten to fifteen more to buy.

I hate that they sold me Metal gear solid 3: Subsistence without including the 2nd disk, and covering up the "do not sell without both disks" part of the label.
I hate that they sold my friend Devil May Cry 2; also without the second disk.
But overall, I like the store

1. while that seems a little extreme, its not unheard of. Depending on the game, that could be a lot or not very much. I know guys who try to take in last year's copy of Madden and get pissed when they're offered less than 50$. They fail to realize that nobody wants the old madden and that everyone only wants the newest version. However if this was a game like Fallout 3 or Halo Reach then that might be a problem...

2.You should check the box before you leave, and watch the guy as he puts the game in the case. Yes we shouldnt have to but its the only way to be sure. It happens occassionally (as you obviously know) and sometimes it can be just a simple mixup. I had that happen once, pointed it out, and the guy immediately started looking for the second disc. When he found it he apologized and I was on my way.
I dont think I've EVER left the store with a used game before I took a good look at it and made sure it was in good shape. Of course, the problem seems to happen more with new guys than with the more experienced guys, but you never know...

BTW I'm not trying to argue with you or anything, I'm just trying to think about why they might have done that

Being a 'collector of sorts' I hate those god awful yellow stickers they put on used games. Anyone know any effective methods of removing them? The means of which I've attempted to remove them have been sub-par at best.

Also, I hate my local store, it's not that great. The prices are usually ridiculous. However, stores elsewhere have been perfectly fine.

So yeah, overall my experience has been positive, but occasionally they F@#$-up. But what business occasionally doesn't?
