Currently, the only Stargate RTS is a mod for Star Wars: Empire At War http://www.moddb.com/mods/stargate-empire-at-war . Does anyone here know of any other Stargate RTS's in development? For now, I'm fairly content with Stargate: Empire At War, but I don't know how much longer I can wait for the next version of it. Do you think a Stargate RTS would sell? Also, should the Ori ever be a playable faction? If so, how should they be handled?

Hmmm...I only know about a Stargate MMO..no RTS.

Said no to Ori being playable but they could be a enemy in the single-player faction.

This. Remember, the ENTIRE GALAXY was only able to stave them off by opening an unprecedented wormhole into them. A single ship is all they'd need to win any campaign.

I think you're forgetting the upgrades the Asgard gave the Daedalus. The Daedalus was able to take down an Ori mothership with just 4 Asgard lasers. Once the Tau'ri outfitted every ship with some form of Asgard weaponry, it'd be a much more even fight.

There's an excellent mod for Homeworld 2 that's been coming out in stages for awhile, it's slowly starting to piece itself together, it's got Wraith, Ori, Ancient, Human and Gou'ald, but there's a few balance issues (Ancient drone weapons from their battleships fire far faster then an Ori ship can even turn around. Also hyperspace is free which causes alot of nomad fleets and turns battles into hour-long hit and run guerilla space missions) and it's in francais, but they're apparently working on an English version (it's still playable if you don't speak French).

In the video, 3:29-3:45 is messed up. Those ha'taks shouldn't have destroyed that. That model of ship has a superweapon capable of wiping out an entire enemy fleet.

It doesn't have to be fully accurate to the show's story though, just balanced and featuring a lot of ships fanboys can drool over. As it is, Star Wars: Empire at War isn't 100% accurate when you consider other games like Tie Fighter and X-wing. There is tons of ship stats that were created for the ships in those games, and not all of them apply in EaW.

It just comes down to balance and a lore-rich faction. There is enough lore on the Ori to make a faction in the game. It's not like suggesting to make a faction based off of the aliens that attacked the Prometheus when Carter got that concussion.

I personally have been fantasizing about a Stargate RTS myself since I saw a particular episode with an awesome camera pan-through during a massive troop battle (They used the shot in the intro credits for a few seasons afterward). I'm not going to be too specific for spoilers sake, but I thought it looked like a good setup for a RTS.

Oh an RTS would be cool. SGC vs Gauld then add in the other races in Xpacs.

SGC would have to call up forces from the gate and the Gauld from a base receiving supply ships. Or maybe best if the gate is a capture point. One per (map).

I can picture calling up standard SG teams and then being able to call up spec ops and heavy weapons crews. Oooh! Command squad with Hero 'Jack Oneil/Carter/Daniel/Tealc'!

Don't care much for how gaulds.

Even though I am not a fan of RTS's I would be all over a true stargate RTS. There are plenty of races there and so much potential, done well it could be as good as or greater then Star Craft.

And yes, the Ori should be playable. They were powerful but not unstoppable.

The dev's admitted that the fleets would be a little more balanced, so no one Ori ship killing the galaxy (they're still tough though). It's been awhile since I played, but I think I remember that Anubis' supership requires researching the Eye of Ra before it can use that electrical storm weapon thingy.

The problem with Stargate is every race has that one ship that is 'the greatest ship ever and is totally hard to kill with regular weapons.' They've been amped down a little, but still, you can assault Atlantis with Hataks and gliders so I don't complain :p
Anubis didn't need all six eyes to fire the superweapon. In fact, they're completely unrelated. The eyes just make him stronger, they don't give him more powers and they don't actually power the weapon.

Yea, my thoughts exactly. And anything gets instant awesome points for having giant black and gold pyramid ships.
