Okay guys. so tell me, did anyone fall for the biochip thing on their first playthrough? My paranoid nature protected me from it, i didnt trust a 'glitch' that happened to EVERYONE. Sounded suspicious to me, and thankfully i didnt have to worry about being driven insane or turned off like those other people. It makes me curious to go on another playthrough just to see what happens if i do take the new chip.

was obviously fishy, but i got the reason wrong.

i saw reports about super-soldier armies, and instantly thought of mass-brain-control chips as their method... so i skipped on it.

i did it to see what it was about - played the game on "give me deus ex" and had no problems whatsoever with the bossfight after i figured out that it wouldnt "just go away".

i did it just to see what would happen, i figured either way something was going to happen and i also figured the "juicier" version would happen if i did it, so i did it and teh boss battle actually wasn't too bad being all fucked up (although i just used a grenade and a couple rockets to insta rape him)

I went into the limb clinic and it suddenly hit me like a train.
I was like HELL NO. I walked right out of there with my old biochip and pride.
I saw my friend take the new biochip on his playthrough and i was like Oh dear. Determined not to ruin it for him I held my tongue. What happens is all your augments get disabled. Your screen is like permanently in the state its in when you get EMP'd so no radar shaky colours no HUD etc.
And you have to fight the boss like that.

No i didn't fall for it. Well in a manner of speaking. I accidentally saw an internet post saying "don't get the biochip!"

I did get it, thinking "oh god, my system is going to die, I better get the upgrade". Although I'm a little let down they only really used it at one part.

Fell for it, hard. I'm just not very used to the paranoia-inducing conspiracy genre.

I left it, due to Pritchards reluctance to get one. He says something like "I'm going to run a few more tests before I do" So i figured I'd let him work it out first.

I did take it but I didn't exactly "fall for it". It was more like "this is going to bite me in the ass later, but I'm gonna do it anyway." Curiosity killed the cat, several times.

Yes, and by god, that damn bossfight. If I didn't have that bloody grenade launcher I might have gone positively insane.

This was pretty much my reasoning with one small addition. I was playing on normal/give me a challenge mode for first playthrough. Knew I was going to be doing Give me Deus Ex difficulty afterwards. I figured it was a trap, but I wanted to see exactly what would happen, so I realized it would be safer to walk into it on the easier difficulty.

I didn't fall for it,i actually thought it was far too predictable but I took it thinking it might determine one of the endings (which it didn't) and that boss fight was terribly easy anyway (compared to the electric bit*h)

I didn't take it, I knew something was off the moment I saw it happening to everyone at the same time. Can't be a an actual problem with the chip if it's simultaneus.

Nah I didn't get it. I was sitting there going hell no this is sketchy, we got the Illuminati as our new enemy and it would not be hard to them to throw in a few glitches just to make everyone scared enough to do it. When I got another "glitch" when I was going into the Belltower base I was a little worried and somewhat regretted it but it turned out alright. Paranoia for the win!

One thing that buggs me - if you take the upgrade, shouldn't you also fall victim to the signal Darrow uses to drive everyone insane? Maybe I got it wrong, but doesn't Darrow use the biochip upgrade as a way to spread his signal? The upgrade was intended to give The Illuminati a way to control people and Darrow subverted it.

Now it made sense that I wasn't affected when I skipped the upgrade, but again, shouldn't you be affected if you did get it?

Side objective, where you optionally can get something that's advertised as benificial? Call me paranoid, but I smelled a big, big rat.
