My argument is Rainbow Dash is 20% cooler than anything else. Thus MLP FIM is the best.

I like Adventure Time, but Teletoon botched showing it enough, only on once a week or something. MLP FIM I don't watch on TV either, I only have S1 on TV. But I can find MLP FIM full episodes on youtube in 1080p. Adventure Time, broken up, episodes not there, and I doubt it's in 1080p.

Off from just the show itself abit.
MLP FIM also have a hugh fandom, making art, music, fics all kinds of other stuff. People have get togethers and meet ups, and we've a convention.

Adventure Time. Ya people make an art piece here, maybe a fic. But it's about a 500000/1 ratio compared with MLP.

So I can much more easily watch MLP FIM episodes to enjoy them than Adventure Time. Adventure Time may have more humor packed into it, but alot of it is fart jokes and such. It does have enough gems in it so it's not just crude, but MLP FIM has much better story, character development, substance and the like + the humor. They all have everything, it's just to what extent and how well done.

Seeing though as I have Rainbow Dash tattooed on my leg though, it's quite clear what show I'm in love with. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic!

Adventure Time, because it generally just appeals to me more.

I used to like my little pony, but then I took an arrow to the knee just became less interested in it over time. It was just a fad to me. Adventure Time love is forever.

I dont really like or hate either of them, but my problem with Adventure Time and Regular Show are shown in Cartoon Network, a childrens tv channel. Call me old fashioned, but I dont really think that children should be watching show's with that kind of material and content.

mlp on the other hand rules!!!

i even have my big sister watching it, (then again she really loved horse when she was younger and still does.)

but really, the shows are very different, but for me...

MLP all the way. Adventure time was way to spastic and random for me to enjoy. While MLP genuinely makes me laugh, the only time I laughed at adventure time was in a "wtf" way.

I'm as brony as they come, but I think Adventure Time is a better show. The humor is silly without being random (non-sequiturs are not funny), and the characters are vivid and diverse. The land of Ooo is a wondrous play ground of imagination - everything just alive (often literally). But the thing that seals the deal for me is the crazy dark context - post nuclear holocaust. Finn is the last human. Ice King is a possessed, undying schizophrenic who just misses his long dead wife but can't realize it. The Crystal dimension, hell, death dreaming. It's darker than the darkest grimdark dark fan fic, and it does it all with a complete levity of tone that belies the real insanity of the world. It makes me want to experience more, just to see what I'll learn about it next.

MLP is like purified happiness. It's cutesy and adorable without being asinine and saccharine. It gives me something that I just can't get anywhere else - happy innocence. And though I understand most people hate it (apparently even the people in it), I really like the fandom, and that has more to do with why I stick with the show than how much I actually like it.

Very interesting poll results, thus far. They are close, but with MLP in a significant lead? Despite the strong brony-presence on these forums, I had not expected as much. At any rate, I choose Adventure Time. It is an easy choice, and here's why:

Adventure Time with Finn and Jake is a show I immediately fell in love with for its profound innovation. The art style is charming and unlike anything I've seen, but the real star is the content. With a combination of influences from classic D&D to 8-bit video games, Adventure Time delivers a surreal and unique aesthetic that I might compare to "sword and sorcery for kids." The characters are also excellent, them featuring simple, "readable" visual design, as well as a subtler depth of character. Of the main recurring characters one can ponder and dissect the emotions and motivations behind their actions, and are with relatable personalities and flaws. The plot of the episodes is also good. The surrealness and spontaneity of the setting allows the plot room to suprise me, even though I've watched cartoons for years and am adequately familiar with stock plots. When they do resort to those (after all, rescuing princesses is a fairly major theme), they at least twist them to the point where they possess some unexpected variation. As I said, I cherish the show for its profound innovation.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, on the other hand (hoof, what have you), is enjoyable mainly through its "craftsmanship," you could say, and that it is after all a delightful suprise. It presents itself, firstly, with superlative animation (to the extent that I was suprised to learn it was Flash) and bright colors. Good things, both of them, and I think it helped draw people in to it's second aspect of "craftsmanship:" the characters. The "mane six" were all deliberately created as complex, flawed individuals with diverse and likeable personalities. Such deliberation bore success, and it is primarily the animation and interaction of the characters, to my perspective, that is, that makes any cynic admit it is "decent" at the very least! Then it strikes home its third appeal, one which has attracted so many heterosexual males, I think. The mere existence of a "decent" show of such femininity does well to address the "anima," that latent female personality. I suspect that it inspires a range of emotions in males that are not attended to in mainstream Western media and culture, and thus has received such astounding popularity.

Nevertheless, MLP: FiM is not without its numerous and blatant flaws. Firstly is that it can never be as free as Adventure Time. That it is a commercially liscensed intellectual product designed to sell little girls' toys, it can never test the limits of the medium. I must always stay firmly rooted in "standards and practices" to avoid offending anyone, be they moral guardians or the big-wig investors. Secondly is the moralizing. I suppose this is a product of its target demographic, them being young children who could use some moralizing, but the blatant moralizing to the tune of "friendship is magic" is a frankly exhausted theme. Speaking of exhaustion, this show is far more prone to rely on stock plots.

Indeed, it is only through its three primary appeals, described above, that MLP:FiM can be as enjoyable as it is. Adventure Time, however, lacks flaws of such magnitude, and as such is more "complete" in its excellency. Do not take offense, however, as this entire dissertation has been my own opinion, absurdly detailed and thought-out as it may be.

I absolutely adore MLP:FiM but, I'll admit, I haven't seen that much of Adventure Time and only one episode of Regular Show and I've gotten some good laughs but that's about it.

Another show I'm surprised hasn't been brought up would have to be Dan Vs.
It airs on the Hub like Friendship is Magic and, in my opinion, isn't as GOOD as Friendship is Magic but it cuts it pretty darn close with its bucket-loads of fridge horror and the fact that its the only cartoon on a family network I've seen that has a semi-explicitly bisexual main character.

Wait, when did MovieBob confess to being a Brony? (Did he or am I just reading OP wrong?)

I like Ponies better but I will admit Adventure Time makes me laugh, I'm not sure why though.
Sorry, maybe I should have clarified.

On the contrary MovieBob revealed that he likes Adventure Time more (in passing) during his Big Picture talk, "Simpson is Still Funny Pt. 2". Right around the 26 second mark..don't blink or you'll miss it.

...So if this discussion does turn in to total shite, I can at the very least say MovieBob started it.lol

I prefer Adventure Time, it's more of a self-parody. It knows it's stupid and makes fun of itself. It's an aquired sense of humor, so I see why some people don't like it. Now MLP is different. It's not dumb because it's trying to be funny, it's just plain dumb to begin with. Unless you're a girl, if you're a girl the show is probably tolerable.

I enjoyed your insights immensely. I would have to agree with you, most especially with the above quote. As I mentioned earlier, this may also be the reason why MLP:FiM will never be able to fully explore the entire spectrum of human emotion, particularly that of intimacy and longing, in the development of the ponies. Ironic given the overtones of "love" in the show.

A real shame because the complex relationships created with Marcelline + Dad, Marcelline + Princess Bubblegum, Finn + Princess Bubblegum, Jake + Lady Rainicorn, Finn + Susan (i.e. longing for another human), etc, are the episodes I seem to enjoy the most.

The first one's not bad, but the second's not to my taste. Though since you mention it, I'd cite FiM's music as a major positive as well.

Both of those are sound-alikes for Broadway songs.
I suppose it all comes down to musical taste at this point. I'm not really the Broadway type, and as much as I like MLP I'm prolly never going to put any of their songs on my itunes. Adventure Time on the other hand...not quite as cheesy and uber catchy (imo):

Sorry mate, Rarity is a definite close second to me...but if I had a heart or soul then Fluttershy would have melted it.

Fortunately Marceline took it.

Yeah, I was in chorus from fifth grade all through high school, so I'm a sucker for the traditional stuff. I was extremely impressed with At the Gala for the relative complexity of it's score and for featuring an actual orchestra and full chorus in the background. It really sounds like it ought to be playing at a music hall rather than on a little kid's tv show.
