So yeah, many people complain about the not so new Bionic Commando Game, because of 2 things that i really don't think is a big deal. They change the main character looks... now is not the red hair mustache with sun glasses guy for a guy with dreads.
The other things i hear people complaint is about the advertisements in the city... really?

Now I won´t lie i haven't play the game yet, I just bought it, because it was cheap and the gameplay trailers didn't look bad or anything. So please don't spoil anything.

I think advertisement in games are "the next thing" coming, since making a good game is way to expensive and selling new games is hard since people don't really have that kind of money to buy all the good games at launch, so when people see an advertisement they start saying how bad the game is because of that. REALLY? I don´t think advertisement might be a bad idea if the use it properly and doesn't really affect the story.

For example let's say on the new MaxPayne game. You see he has a Jack Daniels bottle at the first cut scene, and probably he orders "one jack daniels on the rocks" in a bar, little things like that. Would that be bad? I don't think so

I saw a Subway shop inside the city of inFAMOUS 2.

Ya see, before inFAMOUS 2 came out, Subway had a special offer going on saying that you could win inFAMOUS 2 or Heroes on the Move for free. So, I guess it's more product placement than advertising.

I honestly think people take the whole issue of advertising in games and then blow it out of proportion. I was not bothered in the slightest when I played Blacklight: Tango down and saw AMD and Pepsi advertisements in it, since i was always on the move and never suck around to stare at them. People who say a game is terrible because it has advertising in it need to eat a nice big bowl of STFU and seriously reevaluate their priorities.

In Pikmin there were Duracell batteries and lip balm and stuff. I didn't mind it at all. Kind of funny really.

Product Placement isn't exactly a new idea.
They do it in movies so why shouldn't they do it in games as well?

It's a simple business strategy.

Depends on the kind of advertising. If it's just product placement, it doesn't bother me. Actually I find it a bit better than bepsi cola. If they are trying to ram it down your throat with a commercial or something else equally stupid then yes I would hate it.

We are surrounded by advertisements all the time in real life. So in a video game that strides to be authentic, there should be advertisements in it as well.

I have absolutely no problem with it. Especially in 'realistic' games, it gives you a familiar looking world to run around in
Totally agree with you

Wow I haven't played the second inFAMOUS but it looks awesome I can't wait to play it. Anyway... you know I think this really looks nice, kinda better. I prefer that It looks nice and a little more "realistic" awesome.

Just as long as the games are cheaper at the consumer end to compensate, I don't mind if my 4 wheel drive death machine is no longer a Humvee and is instead a Ford Territory Assault Vehicle, or if Capture the Flag becomes the Pepsi Challenge.

there are new good and great games this years, but making them requires a lot of time, and money even if the game is a sequel. So i say it wouldn't be bad to put in the first screen, in the credits and development teams a logo of the sponsor. and somo tiny and cool advertisement. It doesn't affect gameplay and it looks cooler and also more realistic.

Better seeing it in game than at the Great Wall of China, personaly I dont mind advertisements in games, I think it was done in Burnout Paradise quite well with the billboards
