Chronological. The first six episodes are a fantastic adaptation of the first novel, and it's worth a little anticlimax in the later episodes to not dilute that.
Besides, if you end by watching the Disappearance movie, that's all the climax you need.
Until such time as they animate Snowy Mountain Syndrome.
...
What's taking them so long, that's my favorite short story.

Also I found another order that mix both seasons together
Huh. That's interesting, I never thought of it like that.
That order is literally the chronological order of
everything that's been animated so far (other than the movie, would would come at the end). Otherwise, even following the books would be somewhat asynchronous (a lot of the short stories in the third, fifth, and sixth books come before book 2).

Any reason they decided to do it that way? My brother was a fan of the show, but I couldn't stand it, but I have to admit, I was puzzled at this Endless 8 thing and how it was all the same, how did they not get lynched for it?
Honestly, I can see why they did it, and it
could have been even more effective than the short story. The repetition was a major plot point in the overall series, and the anime drove that home far more than the novel, which only had one "repetition" (the final one).
The problem is, it needed to be half as long; there was a sweet spot to where the episodes would be draining to the audience without being infuriating, and that line was catapulted over.. Three episodes would have been great, even four would have worked (I know from experience; that's how it was aired at Comic Con), but
eight?
