I want to get back into Skyrim. Currently waiting for it to finish going through patch hell.

I would suggest light armor OP. If only because light armor seems to suit Nords better. My first play through in Skyrim was with a heavy armor Nord, and whilst Steel Plate suited him, the light armor sets always seemed to suggest Nord to me. Just personal opinion though.

Archery without sneak?? That sounds very painful. No way to block those crushing 2-handed attacks on expert usually means being 1-shot from time to time.

For me I?ve just always liked that way Glass armor looked. If I loaded up my characters from Morrowind and Oblivion right now I bet they would both have on glass. As for Skyrim I wore glass through about 80% of the game but as soon as my smithing got to 100 I made a full set of legendary dragon scale armor that increased magicka regen. Not that my enchanting is at 100 and I know better I?m gonna make set that reduces the mana cost for destructions spells and increases one-handed.

I go with light armor because I prefer the way the leather armor and the various Thieves' Guild armors look. The only heavy armor I like is the Wolf Armor. Though, to be fair, I do think it is the best-looking armor in the game.

Functionally, this is your dilemma: More protection, slower movement speed with heavy armor. Less protection, faster movement speed with light armor. For archery, light armor is better. The idea with archery is to keep away from enemies, the movement speed helps when a bunch charge at you.
