There have been several threads talking about the game, all of which are dead now.
But we have less that 24 hours now before release, so it's relevant again! Yay!

I'm excited for it. I tried the demo and was pretty satisfied, found myself having fun even though I was playing the same level over and over, and always as a marine because the species balancing is on. I'm really hoping that the campaign lives up to the AVP2 campaign.

The question is: is anyone else excited for it? Are you buying it? Why or why not?

To my knowledge there has been like... ZERO advertising/hype for this game. I was following this and ME2 for a while (they were both originally coming out the same week) and there was way more hype on the part of the developer for ME2 than for AVP3. They're not even trying, it seems like. The website is totally bland, and it doesn't even have exact details about release information. Which is all detrimental the game, I expect. I'm hoping lots of people are as excited as I am...

Im gonna buy it despite the reviews, game informer gave it an okay review stating that the Predator was "to stealthy".

I don't get it. 8.5/10 is a great game, bordering on fantastic. That's not a bad review score at all. Some people are saying "despite the reviews" and those reviews should incite buyers, not put them off.

Whatever.

I probably won't buy it (avoiding buying things until I've spent a hell of a lot more time with my current arsenal of games), but it could be decent.

My graphic card gets overheated and the computer shuts down when I play that game.... I have to send it to repair, I'm getting kinda bored with being able to only play older games like BF2 and CoD 4

Nah, the demo kinda killed it for me. The gameplay just felt wrong, way wrong. And pretty much every review agrees in one thing, the singleplayer is poor. So meh. I already have TF2 to satisfy my MP needs.

No. I regret buying the AVP Classic on Steam even. And the mixed reviews don't help.

The Game Informer review was crap, I mean everyone is entitled to their opinion but the guy who wrote for GI was complaining about "having to shoot aliens a lot" and he didn't like "being forced to use stealth as the predator." Excuuuuuse me? Those are what the AVP games are all about, those are selling points! Plus he didn't even touch on the multiplayer, which is what I imagine a vast number of people are buying the game for.

I know it may seem like I'm whining about a game I'm excited for getting a negative review, but I'm just jarateed off that that people are claiming the game will suck based on this guys word.
its not that i take their word for it its just Ive been screwed in the past with avp

This is one of the few games that got me hooked via the fanboy angle. My copy arrived in the mail today, but upon attempting an installation Steam slapped my hands away from the game, stating I couldn't play it until Friday. Oh well, once my last exam is over tomorrow I'll just rent Heavy Rain to keep me busy until then.

I've heard mixed reviews regarding the demo, but they weren't enough to put me off; I haven't had any bad experiences with this game franchise yet, so they can chalk this purchase up to good cred.

Hell yes I am! I pre-ordered it a while ago. Although it's not AVP3 (not a sequel) it's just a game with the AVP license.

Also... 1000 posts!

I thought it looks pretty damn good. I bet it would have hype, but alas, people are too busy playing Call of Duty to look up from their screens to realize that other games do exist.

I've already pre-ordered it on Steam. I was going to get it on the PS3, but I decided to go with the PC because that's how I remember the first two AvP games (which were brilliant, by the way). Plus, the AvP games were always extremely fun to play multiplayer, and I don't usually enjoy online multiplayer. So I figured the PC would probably have a more active player base to play online with years down the road.

Not buying AVP.

From what I have played of the Demo it feels like a console version of AVP/AVP 2.

Auto Aim, Crappy Alien Movement, no real focus on location specific damage.

No thanks, I will pass and enjoy my newly patched and updated version of AVP classic I got for $5 off Steam.

The game feels bland, boring, and it has that Doom 3 lighting problem where everywhere is dark and your flashlight barely runs. Not only that, but the species are way unbalanced. The flamethrower for the Marines takes 400 years to kill an adversary, the aliens can move fast and silent and kill you instantly, and the predators are invisible and that is enough said.

Why people give this good reviews is beyond me. (Then again, this was the multiplayer demo I'm going off of)
