Buying on launch, the mp demo is amazing, I can't top playing the one stage over and over lol. In my mind, they nailed balance, I've played all three classes and enjoy them all... I like the predator most, followed by marine then alien, the only negative thing is that the one hit kill animation is to long, I hate the 5 chains that go on, kinda stupid.

There actually has been a reasonable amount of advertising for this one. And yes, I will definitely be buying it, for I am a fanboy.

Hmm im not sure about this game, yes i would like to have it, but theres so many other games to chose from BF:BC2 and other releases, and i do love buying pointless crap from small time developers for fun on steam.

The Demo would of been what i would've used to gauge if it was a good buy or not, but the Demo is terrible, im sure the game is good, but between the long time waiting around to find a game, and the fact that the demo only lets you try out the Deathmatch.

Why in the name of god did they just include just the deathmatch in it? feed him to the Queen.

Can't blame you there, the past AVP games were nothing to write home about. Still, the demo has me suitably pumped for the latest edition, but maybe I'm over-excited.
I think you made a mistake there. You meant movies and not games. AvP2 was great.

Defenetly not. Played the multiplayer demo and hated it. When you play as a predator, you have 3 attacks: One insta kill movie that you can only do when the square button comes up, which it never does. The other two is a normal melee attack and a heavy attack that is worthless.

The maps are also way to large for the ammount of players, so you have to spend quite a bit of time searching for them.

Also the health of your character is way too low, dying in only 2 hits from an ailien.

Playing on a 360. Playing the alien can give you a sense of vertigo, and I wasn't the hugest fan of the melee attacks being the shoulder buttons. for my own preference I'd have swapped those out with the face buttons.

that said, the atmosphere for the game is spot on.

Damn all the time I played AvP 2. I loved the multiplayer in that game. I havnt tried to AvP 3 demo but I think I will give it a rent when it comes out and see where I go from there.

I'm very interested in the single player but the multiplayer demo was baaaad.

But I never expect much from a console fps online.

Not buying AVP.

From what I have played of the Demo it feels like a console version of AVP/AVP 2.

Auto Aim, Crappy Alien Movement, no real focus on location specific damage.

No thanks, I will pass and enjoy my newly patched and updated version of AVP classic I got for $5 off Steam.
Crappy alien movement? What demo were you playing, moving as an alien felt really flowing and natural to me. And why exactly is auto aim a bad thing? It's quite subtle at any rate, and with the pulse rifle it figures that whatever's in front of you will die. It feels extremely well balanced to me, as the marines will own in a straight up fight, predators rule open spaces and the speed of the alien allows them to work in either environment, though this is counteracted by their melee only attacks.

The trophy kills feel really gruesome, in an awesome way, my only quarrel with the demo is a tendency for what I call, "Trophy kill-trains", where one player will initiate a trophy kill, only for another to find the vulnerable player and initiate another, until it adds up to ridiculous amounts. I remember it stacking up to 5 or 6 players once, which was quite amusing to watch from the killcam at least.

I'm guessing either you're playing this on a console, or you have never played the original games.

No because I am ridiculosly(sp?)broke atm and I can't even convince my wife to buy it for me. I'll just re-install the original and have some fun old-skool style.

I guess you never played long enough to pick any of the predators 4 tech weapons which gives him a ton of different play styles. To your health complaint, the predator has the most health out of the three races, holding Y allowes you to med yourself back to full, I actually find combat quite intresting with the light attack, heavy attack and block moves.

The only AvP game I remember having any fondness for was the old arcade game that was in the bowling ally I pretty much grew up in. That kicked much backside.

Yes, I'm playing on a console, and yes, I played AVP2 extensively when I was younger. Hell, it was my first real online multiplayer experience, and I loved it back then as I do now.

Way too many good quality games are getting released, going to pass on this one: BF:BC 2, March 2nd ... can't wait. But I have to admit that I am quite impressed by how fun the AvP demo was, but then again, the BF:BC 2 beta seems to have me believe that the retail game will be epic, and hopefully, optimized to run on poor sods with Dual Cores like meself.

I don't get it. 8.5/10 is a great game, bordering on fantastic. That's not a bad review score at all. Some people are saying "despite the reviews" and those reviews should incite buyers, not put them off.

Whatever.

I probably won't buy it (avoiding buying things until I've spent a hell of a lot more time with my current arsenal of games), but it could be decent.
Bad reviewers gave the poor scores, the one quoted in the first thread is a good review, but the others get all angry because its not their type of game, so they assume its no ones type of game

OP The demo gave me hours of fun ill be sure to pick this one up
