I don't know about you guys but I can't play it, it's not one of the games I want but it would be fun to try out, first time i tried to find a game nothing, I thought well the Bad Company 2 demo is out, mayby that's what people is playing? But it can't even find 1 other player, there has to be something wrong, is it a local problem or is someone more having this problem? I live in Finland=P plus I own a Ps3 ._.

And for those who have played it is free to say how it was^^ was it good or bad? Motivate plz.

meh had 2 games and was a marine both times on free for all death match. it's not that bad but i think it would be better in co-op mode with a team otherwise the marines just spend most of there time getting raped by giant spears one by one

but yeah ive also been having connection problems, thats why ive only managed 2 games

As a fan of the two original PC games I was extremely disappointed.

The Marines:

Can't duck/crouch!?
Have a ridiculous auto-aim (seriously, they rule the game).
Can melee (as if a human could knock back a Predator/Alien).

The Aliens:

Have to button mash to kill.
Can't jump/pounce very far.
Don't have many places to attack from (no vents on the level they gave).

The Predators:

Can't equip weapons, as in you can't choose a weapon and walk around with it, you always have your claws out and if you want to use a weapon you have to equip it for a single use before automatically equipping your claws again.

The combat feels clunky and has no fluidity.

Can we all please refrain from whining about this one? the ammount off butthurt this thing has stirred up over on /v/ is ungodly.

Anyway: I think that deathmatch is probably the worst mode to experience this game on, luckily some players have realised this and arn't killing their own species in matches, but there's still plenty running around being completely fucking dense and missing the entire point of the game.

I thought it was ok, just needs some tweaks here and there.

Also what are it's controls for PC?

It was very good. I loved it!

Marines at first were difficult to use but once you get some of the good weapons your pretty powerful.

Aliens are a bit confusing to use at first due to their ability to climb walls. Their tail whip attack is mainly useless and you can die pretty easily. Still there fun to play as. Also they have some vicious assassination kills.

Predator was a blast to play. Sure there slow but the balance that out with their OHK weapons.

My only complaints are that the melee buttons are on the bumpers. Why can't we just use the triggers.

Also occasionally when you stun someone and preform a forward grab, the enemy can somehow break free. Which is annoying because it doesn't explain how to break free or why that happened.

Overall the demo kicked ass. I look forward to playing the full game.

*Ducking has no place in this game, since Marines are the only species to have primarily ranged attacks, so there is no need for using cover.
*The autoaim compensates for how much recoil and spread the guns have, I didn't notice anything wrong with it.
*The melee attack actually gives the Marines a chance in combat, if it weren't there you'd have no chance of surviving a fight with an alien or predator.
The Aliens:

Have to button mash to kill.
Can't jump/pounce very far.
Don't have many places to attack from (no vents on the level they gave).
*I find well-timed tail attacks work far better than claws.
*Use focus mode to pounce further.
*Lol wut? It's only one level, plus the ceiling is fantastic for that anyway.
The Predators:

Can't equip weapons, as in you can't choose a weapon and walk around with it, you always have your claws out and if you want to use a weapon you have to equip it for a single use before automatically equipping your claws again.
The claws are your main weapon, the other weapons are more like powerups, though I havn't played as Predators very much yet.

I totally agree with this - though I've not played in many games where people try to co-ordinate in a team.

I think it was a pretty serious blunder for the marketing team to put out the deathmatch mode instead of something that was at least vaguely team-based. Not necessarily the 'juggernaut' or 'zombie' modes that fit very well into the AVP format - but something that gave a sense of a team, a group - a species, if you will.

As for the demo itself, I had a lot of fun with it. The controls themselves work fine, and each class is pretty well-balanced, all things considered.

Up unil I played the demo, though, I didn't even know there was a straight-up deathmatch mode in AVP. I wasn't aware anyone who was going to buy the game had that in mind, either - not that deathmatch isn't fun, but it isn't what I was going to buy the game for. Ironically, I now know that I'm definetly getting AVP because I've played the demo, but I know that I definetly won't be playing deathmatch because I've played the demo..

Since the other two arguments have already been dealt with by DannyBoy, I'll have a bash at defending this one :3

The reason for the Predator not starting out with his extra weapons is to balance the classes out. If the Predator were given, say, his shoulder-cannon, he could simply cloak and hide in one corner of the map, switching between his different vision-types until he saw a target he could lock onto. The Alien could never shoot him or get close enough, and the Marine could never see him on his motion tracker or in the flesh, since he's cloaked.

It's just for balance, really. Not that it's perfect, but for a demo I think it's well thought out.

I'd really like to try this game in some kind of team mode.

I mean, even with people co-ordinating teams I saw some really interesting tactics being used: The marines would all camp a room with their backs to the wall, meaning anything that came into that room got torn to pieces by them. This suddenly turns the Marines into a wall of guns, nothing could touch them untill the aliens reacted by having one wave of drones distract them while the others came down through a hole in the roof and savaged them.

This game has a lot of potential for awesome tactical play, mostly because it subverts a lot of the elements of FPS's we've gotten used to.

So far, I love it and easily dominate with the Alien or Predator. The only complain I have is that it takes too much time to find a game in general.

It'd be awesome if it wasn't it free-for-all. I wanted to team up with some Alien buddies.

I personally had a blast, I guess I started playing after the patch since it only took about 30seconds on average to find a full game. The Marine is somewhat awkward to use I have to say but hell the Sprint is damn useful. The got the atmosphere just right and I know for the first few games I was going "oh crap oh crap" and being in general freaked out. Aliens are just amazing to play as, the speed, the deadliness and just overall badassness completely won me over. Now the Preds are a mixed bag for me. Hella fun to play as but I dunno, I just don't enjoy playing as the Preds as much as the other two races. Anyways my only complaint really is the fact that they picked the worst mode to showcase. As Dannyboy said. I sat there as a marine watching an Alien stealth kill and Alien who was stealth killed by a Pred who was ultimately Grenaded by me. Anyway that's my two cents.

Awful, just plain awful. I did only play as Marines and Aliens, but it never gave me the choice to play as pred, and so, I had a bad time.

I shall not be getting this game, or even renting it.

I had the same character selection too nad there was this weird graphic thing where black became grey-ish in a certain radius of the Xenomorph.
