This is how I experienced the demo.
*Coffs*
*Clears throat*
When I once got the demo, (it took 200 seconds to download, that is, 2 seconds per 1% and it was an xbox demo) I found out that the only way to try out the game was to play it online with other demo testers. Now, what the fuck is wrong with a spoiler campaign? It's a good way to train out the very AWKWARD controlls, which they certainly were on my part, judging from the perspective of you, using buttons you often NEVER use, for actions just not fitting.
However, I noticed that you could play as three races.
The Humans.
The Xenomorphs.
And of course...
The Predators.
Let me explain the races and their abilities for those not played the demo. Starting humans...
The humans are just like those soldiers you see from the Alien movies. But they are as fragile as they are offensive.
For starters, they got some shove back buttons (again, in very awkward controls) but I NEVER got any use of them, since each and every punt from any enemy, that had further range than my shoves, stuns me enough for them to penetrate my heart, slice it open, squeeze the juice out of it in a wine glass, feel it's flow, it's scent, the taste... And than punt me again so I can't resist. They also got a flashlight that I never really got a good use of, since it reveals a very small area. And with you turning your aim ever so slowly around, it's hard examining where you're going to the fullest. The Xenomorphs and the Predators got their "life detectors", but not the humans. They got their FLASHLIGHT! That can show you two inches at a time! Woo!
Also, with the Xenomorphs being so very dark, it's hard to see them even with the flashlight turned on them. The flashlight doesn't make the area it's pointed at fully visible, it's really dim, like it's battery is going to die in a second. A candle at the end of the fucking barrel would've been much more helpful.
However, their caliber were good. They could use grenade launchers attached to the main gun, that did an extreme amount of damage. They had stim packs, but I never found them of any use, since it takes 1o fucking seconds to use 'em.
The Xenomorphs were kind of fun. You could crawl on the walls, the roof, the inside of your butt-hole... Anywhere, basically. You could also use your tail for an average range combat weapon. But again, controls were to damn awkward, I often turned on something else and got killed. They also had a normal attack that were just as useful. I added in this text to see if you're still reading. If you are, cool. I noticed you could make grips with the Xenomorphs. But I never got to find out why, since it was other players I were going against. They often turned me into slices of ham or into mush before I could even SCRATCH them, literally.
Personally, I didn't play as the Predator (Oh the shame.) since I had it with the stupid game when I was playing human. I think it was a very poor idea to make let the online gameplay be your testing area, and the training dummies other players.
It's like letting some kid who just got a grip of a sword train it in a massive all-out war. It's just not practical.
Anyways, just that demo made me NOT buy the game. That is, giving me the opposite effect of what it wishes. I thought it was a cool game but.. Nope. Not the case for me.
Ow yeah, the controls were awkward.
