Poll: Aliens are attacking earth, and you can join them.

Your just minding your own business, when suddenly giant UFO's come down and start shooting advanced weaponry at everything.

The humans join together to fight off the invaders, and there is a possibility the humans will win, even with less advanced weaponry.

However, an alien ship comes down to you, and one alien says that he will spare your life if you help his people take over earth.

So...what do you do?

Option 5: Help the aliens until they give me one of their biggest guns/or ships. And then I blast the aliens to kingdom come and hope the surviving people of earth forgive me.

I would refuse. Assuming the alien was true to its word, integrating into alien society would not be something I'd be willing to do. Plus I'd love to see an enemy which we could actually use nuclear weapons against.

That covers my emotional reaction but as for that specific scenario? Shoot the alien in the face steal his ship and deliver a nuke onto the mother ship. It wont stop the invasion because life isn't an Emmerich movie but it would slow them down.

Depends - if the aliens just plan to spare my life - they can take a nuke up the *** for all I care.

However, if they were to offer me rulership of a certain large territory as the provincial Overlord - then bring on the death rays and human domination!

Feel free to correct me, but why is using nuclear weapons on our home planet a good idea? That way, the aliens can win just by provoking us into nuking our own planet and mopping up.

In any case, any alien with the technology to actually get here could crush us effortlessly anyway, so the answer to the OP is "HELL YES".

I meant more if we were to counter-invade, assuming we had the technology to reach their planet.

I can be an evil bastard, so naturally it is within my interest to use the alien tech afforded to me by them in order to experdite the human takeover of the invading army. Human beings are not to be screwed around with, and the universe needs to know that.

Well, since the aliens came to me I'd presume there is some quality I possess that they want. Maybe I secretly have a magic space brain I don't know about.

Regardless, I'd use the position to bargain. No slavery, a devolved government with limited powers to administer human issues and a promise of assistance in infrastructural development. Beyond that, I don't care. I have no loyalty to the nations of Earth, and to be a part of something greater appeals to me.

The chance to build a better world and the technology to make it happen, or to die in futile defence of a flag. Not a hard choice.
