Against an alien race that just showed up and started shooting, I'd fight even with no chance of winning. If we do have a chance, so much for the better! I would refuse. Assuming the alien was true to its word, integrating into alien society would not be something I'd be willing to do. Plus I'd love to see an enemy which we could actually use nuclear weapons against.

Feel free to correct me, but why is using nuclear weapons on our home planet a good idea? That way, the aliens can win just by provoking us into nuking our own planet and mopping up.

In any case, any alien with the technology to actually get here could crush us effortlessly anyway, so the answer to the OP is "HELL YES".

strictly speaking its not a "good idea" nukes just represent the most powerful weapons in our arsenal and are really a symbol for human might and our capacity for destruction. tand the way the question is framed it assumes that the anines are already knocking at our door and have forgone trying to trick up into killing ourselves and then finishing us off while in a weakened state as opposed to when we pose a threat to them

Otherwise, I'll just fight with the humans. Not on the ground that it'd be noble and heroic when you could take a much easier option of betraying your brethren and live, protecting your planet despite its flaws and the realization that it's your only home, but on the grounds that I don't want to copy Avatar in any way imaginable.
