So.... Massive build-up of troops at the mexican border before I launch a tactical nuclear strike at Mexico City.... Followed by a landing of about 50 troops on some French beaches... A threatening phone call to Russia, a promise of a payoff to the UK and another series of Nuclear strikes across the middle east... Followed up by "Internment Camps" for any of the people who are of the same nationality as the countries I destroyed? And a promise of giving what remains of China to Russia after I nuke the Chinese, too? Is that good enough?

Exactly, Im not saying i advocate the act, only that with enough force, you become the only people left to punish you. And your not likely to embrace the privilege.

Until somebody comes along with a bigger death star. Best to just destroy the entire universe. Or better yet, make it so the universe never existed to begin with. That'll keep us safe.

To Ultrajoe- there is no such thing as 'overwhelming force' on a prepared enemy. Look at some world war examples- the Somme, Caen, Stalingrad, Verdun, the list goes on....

So you better be sure that your goinf to win, because if you don't win within the next month, your in for a long, bitter war my friend.

How do people not get the idea of overwhelming force?

I am not saying we can perform an act of 'overwhelming force' today, i am saying that if you can muster and inflict this kind of force then the enemy cannot recover or counterattack.


And you are right, you had better be sure you can win within the next month.

Thats the whole point of 'overwhelming force', anything less is insufficient.

As for the 'bigger death star' concept, a romantic view of wartime practice ill grant you, poetic in its irony. But sooner or later the faction with the greater resources will build a weapon that the enemy cannot better. Admittedly i am by no means advocating any violent practices...

but the universe is not 'fair', a place where karma and time will make any force fall with enough rousing speeches and burning faith. It is possible to be so superior you can bludgeon down any opposition that rears its head.

in the terms of romance, i say anything legal. I (i think i said this earlier in the thread) put some sick-shit porn into someone's locker to turn a chick off him, it was competition. And although neither of us got the girl, He did get a lovely reputation.

Its natural selection and i think provided they don't end up bleeding then its all fair game.

Bad news... there is no way to prepare for a Nuclear Strike. Even if your early warning satellite catches the launch, the best you can hope for is to ride it out and hope enough missiles survive to hit back... Unless someone plants a nuke in the back of buick and parks it on Capital Hill....

But that is my point. If the Russians and the Chinses and the Yanks all went nuclear, enough missiles would survive to olbiterate the enemy, becasue the cold war arms race WAS the preparation for this event.
