I honestly understand why people hate the movies. I do. Jar-jar is offensive and annoying and unfunny, Hayden Christensen can't act for crap, and the romance was constantly being beaten over your head, but still... I love the prequels. The action, the jedi, the music, and the universe itself more than make up for their faults for me. 4,5 and 6 are still classics of course, but I don't honestly consider them "better" than the prequels. They had quite a few flaws too, and not just because they were older. I love all 6 movies, but I can almost never find anyone who thinks the same. Anyone!

They were okay, I guess. Of course, I haven't watched them since I was about 8, so my perception of them may be distorted.

I honestly do enjoy all the films in the main series. It might be just because I grew up with all of the films (the prequels came out as I was growing up, and my family owned the original trilogy remastered VHS collection thing with the cool Darth Vader box), but I would be lying if I said that I hated them.

I do like the prequels, but i do consider the original three better because: "luke I am your Father" made everyone in the theatre gasp, seriously, 1-3 don't offer anything as interesting or entertaining as that scene, alone, does.

The saber fights were great, though I wouldn't have said any of the world building was better than say Hoth or Endor...

Kinda neutral; if you just switched your mind off and drolled at the screen for an hour they were entertaining, but they didn't quite have that special something that the origional films did.

Sorry, but even the things you mentioned in a postitive way, were totally lackluster to me.

The tension just dissolved itself, the direction was so minimalist it was terrible and the only thing the action scenes had going for them was . . . stuff . . . alot of it.

Let Dr.Plinkett help you make the right decision: http://redlettermedia.com/plinkett/star-wars/

I loved the spectacle. The rest I didn't care much about.

And yes, I am aware this post will contradict the said norm.

AM I BEING SARCASTIC OR NOT? CAN YOU TELL?

The action in the prequels is awesome, the love part is kind of overdone in 3, I don't really find Jar Jar annoying, and the visuals are pretty.

I do like them.

Also, the intro to #3 was tense as fuck, and I loved it.

They def wernt the best movies of all time, but they wernt bad. Then you throw in some lightsaber fights and massive battles between armies, you got yourself a movie.

I liked em better then the originals anyway.....the classic ones may be fortunately lacking in mediclorians and jar-jar, but aside from those, I dont really think the writing is any better. or the acting overall(aside from harrison ford).

I do.

Attack of the Clones not that much, The Phantom Menace yes, and Revenge of the Sith I really enjoy.

I really like Star Wars, but the prequels aren't exactly bathing in great dialogue and stellar acting. As for the prequels not having the same feel, they're set in a very different time period with very different characters. Of course they don't feel the same.

The Phantom Menace I loved when I was young, but now I can't stand it.

Attack of the Clones I didn't like that much even as a kid, and I still don't like it now. Cool jedi battle in the stadium though.

Revenge of the Sith is alright. Hit and miss, but I still enjoy it.

Going through them one by one.
Episode I: I liked the fight scenes and a couple of the new characters who were introduced here (Mace Windu, Qui-Gon, Darth Maul) but everything else was just either bad or meh.

Episode II: Once again I like the fight scenes, but the "romance" was just so badly written that it was painful and the ending sucked.

Episode III: I actually really liked this one. Yeah the story was kind of meh and the writing still wasn't all that great (and General Grievous got a serious downgrade from the Clone Wars cartoon series), but overall I liked the movie.

So yeah, I don't hate the prequels as much as some people have said I should. I don't think their great (except Episode III), but I don't think their bad either.

They were actually decent films.
Relatively entertaining, with really good visual effects.

Issue?
The entire plot revolving around Anakin.
Also, midichlorians.

The issue with Anakin is that the whole thing about him descending to the Dark Side was done so poorly.
My dad's theory about Darth Vader was that he was only acting as The Dragon for Palpatine so that he could get a chance to overthrow him and bring an end to the Empire.
The events at Endor were perfect for this.

The prequels ruined how awesome this would have been.

rl;td:
If you removed Anakin being a whiny brat and improved the plot a little, you'd have some goddamned amazing films worthy of the Star Wars title.

1 bored me to hell,
2 bored me to the point of falling asleep halfway through
3 I actually thought was pretty good.

...neutral for me.
