Lets finally settle this. Which is the greater assassin and why?
Not who would win in a fight, because ezio has greater technology for his time period.

Altair, no contest, because he was clearly a more capable and professional assassin. Although as Ezio is getting older, he's becoming less of a angsty manchild, and slightly more bearable.

obviously, Ezio could be unlikable but you have to admit, he had style and he had a lot more personality than Altair

This match-up isn't terribly fair...

Ezio has had two games (and soon enough a third) and has a huge supporting group to give him character (his sister, Leonardo, it's a him, Mario!).

Altair is in the first game when Ubisoft is figuring out how to make it work and has virtually no one to play off of (uh...Desmond?).

Of course Ezio is going to be the more interesting character. If Batman has taught me anything, your supporting cast is just as important (if not more) as the main character.

Ezio has had 2 games to develop him, he has superior firepower and armor, he's got about as much experience killing shit as Altair had...

If you ask me, Ezio is better all around.

Although Altair is still a badass.

As of my vote, it's 13-13. And for some reason I don't like Ezio that much. I don't dislike him, I'm just indifferent, and Altair is a badass, so I have to go with him.

This, Ezio even used altair's outfit because it's better than his. Also altair didn't need anything wimpy like family

It's a tricky one. If you're talking about Altair later on in the canon, when the Apple of Eden had actually taught him all of those secrets, I'd say it would be a pretty even fight.

However, if you're talking about Altair as he was in AC1, when he didn't have all that stuff and his combat techniques were very limited compared to Ezio's, the Italian would steamroll him.

It's a relative question, so there cannot be a definitive answer, which is why the whole 'let's settle this once and for all' attitude that everyone who does these polls has irritates me so much. You can't, 'settle this once and for all' and why do we need to? Let's just say thy were both badass and leave it at that.

Because being a bit miffed at half your family being murdered by a Templar conspiracy is clearly being an "angsty manchild". I got over my father and brothers being murdered in about a week, you?

Ezio, no contest. In my opinion, Altair had about as much personality as a brick with googly eyes glued to the front.
I think Altair was such a shitty character because that's who he was supposed to be. He was an assassin as birth. He did what the assassin's told him so he didn't really have a life. Ezio was born and raised as a rich Florence banker's son. He had friends went to school, socialized and basically tore shit up. Being an assassin came after he had grown up a bit. He still had his humanity where Altair never had a chance to develop his in the first game.

Anywho my vote goes to Altair. I'm hoping in Revelations he gets more fleshed out instead of the *BEEP BOOP* KILL TARGET *BOOP*. Plus all of the assassins in Ezio's era follow Altair's teachings.

Yeah, same here. I remember reading all his old journals in Assassin's Creed II and thinking, "Why the hell couldn't I play as this guy?" Hopefully that'll be rectified in Revelations.

Ezio is my preferred character and he's fully fleshed out unlike Altair who is very boring really and often comes across as generic, from his flat voice to how his feelings never enter into the matter, he's not too distant from characters like Master Chief. Ezio meanwhile has a stereotypical revenge story going on but he does come across as a brave but flawed hero who has to learn as he goes in order to reach his goals.

Neither of them are great assassins when you think about it, they both seem to have a big problem with subtlety and dressing in rather conspicuous clothing that would gather attention even in their respective time periods, both are very efficient at kill though.

Ezio. He had more of a personality and a need to kill his targets(atleast the Pazzi conspirators).
See, that's why I'm starting to root for Altair (his weird allergy to water notwithstanding).

Assassins should go about their occupation in a passionless manner. It's like what the Sniper says in the TF2 vid. That's how an assassin should be. Give him a name, he gives back a bodybag, no questions asked. *shrug*

Don't forget that he drew blueprints for the freakin' gun as well...

I'd have to say Ezio, purely because he has infinitely better characterisation than Altair in that he actually has a personality. However, I think AC1 is the better game.

Ezio grew into a badass, so him.

I also agree he has a better personality, but that doesn't make him a better Assassin.
