Ok, so I'm at University.

Just finished a Prep Year in Computing and IT.

I've been offered places on a BSc Information Technology with Business Studies and BA (Hons) Business Studies.

Now, I want to be a Solicitor so naturally, I should be doing Law. I could do either of those degrees and take on a Graduate Diploma in Law at Postgraduate level, but then I would have to do another course to qualify as a Solicitor or a Barrister, whatever I choose to go on to be. This could take me more time and cost more money.

So, here's the problem. The Uni have offered me 2 places, but their LLB (Hons) Law course is right there and better yet it's a qualifying degree so I would not have to do any more exams after leaving uni. Potentially saving me much time, stress and money.

Do you think I am just being greedy by asking the Uni for a spot on that course instead, or am I just looking out for my best interests?

I'm hoping they wont look at my email and think "Not this bastard again, why can't he be happy with what he's got" *spam block*

It's your education you have to take every opportunity available to you, and if something better comes along then go for it! Don't let what they might think stop you, they are obliged to help you.

I keep saying that to other students because I'm one of the course reps. We pay them disgusting amounts of money, some of the admin staff really could be a little more helpful :)

Hi,

Yes the BSc was one of the options from the prep year (my first choice in fact).

I went to the business faculty myself and told them about my previous qualifications and management experience and they bit my hand off offering me a place.

I'm hoping I could talk my way on to this law course as easily as I did the business one.

Do what you feel will be the biggest advantage to you. Why do uou care what they think of you as a person anyway? As long as you do well and give them a good reason to hold your place that's all that really matters to then.
I don't really care what they think of me, they can all hate me as long as I get what I want in the end. Until I'm holding a confirmation letter in my hand, I need to work the right people in the right way to get a place. Annoying one of those few people could lead to disaster!

Shouldn't have bought those law books eh?

Just go for it, just tell the IT department you want to completely bail and chat to the law guys. Chances are they have quite a few people who aren't sure what to do with their life changing course so they'll be used to it. Plus the law building is much nicer than Furnival block and the food is edible, you owe it to your stomach to just get up and do it!
I've not seen the inside of collegiate campus, only the outside of Robert Winston building.

Seen as it has medicine and law, I'm guessing it's where the better class of students go compared to places like EMB and Owen? hehe

What feels right? That is probably the best way to go. Don't short sell yourself - if you think you can complete the more advanced qualification/best qualification for you then don't hesitate to take the opportunity. You aren't going to get a second chance at living your life so make the absolute best of it you can.

Greedy. You're a horrible, horrible person and should be ashamed of yourself.

/sarcasm

I don't see a problem there.
