In general, if you have the wherewithal to ask this question, the answer is no. Insane people tend not to consider the possibility that they are insane.

Oh, I do that. I'm the only person round here that I can hold an intelligent conversation with (I mean here as in my actual location, not here as in the Escapist. I'm sure there are plenty of people here that I could hold an intelligent conversation with, I just don't know any very well. Wow, my parenthetical is longer than my actual comment).

No, I do that too. Only I tend to giggle as well if i think of something amusing. almost always. So a trip to the grocers goes like this

OT: In truth you're really not. People talking to themselves is a very common behaviour. People do it for a myriad of completely non-nutty reasons. In your case it seems to be just as an aide to help you visualize the thing you've been thinking/doing. Humans often need a sounding board to bounce their ideas off of, and sometimes all one needs to do is say something out loud to figure out a lot about their thoughts.

Frankly I wish people did it more. There are a lot of things around this planet that very clearly did not get voiced before they were implemented, much to everyone's detriment as they'd never have been made had someone put two seconds in to actually consider what they were doing.

So relax. You're no more nutty than the rest of us.

But i would never do it out loud
My grandma often mumbles random crap, for example almost always when she reads, i think it is because grandpa has very bad hearing, and it is rather annoying and creepy

People do it in their heads all the time.
Talking to yourself out loud just means that you're unaware of/don't care about social norms.

I talk to myself sometimes because it's nice to talk to someone smart every once in a while.

My brother literally has discussions with himself about football and stuff, and I occasionally berate myself, and I?m sure we?re both not insane. Maybe weird, but not insane.

I don't think just because you talk to yourself that makes someone crazy.

If you actually think you are having a conversation with some alternate persona of yourself, then yes you could be. If you're just "thinking aloud" to help keep track of your thoughts, then no.
