Poll: Am I the only one or...

After being informed of how awesome everyone thinks "Deathnote" is, I've watched half the episodes and found I'm the only person in the world to think it's pretentious

They could have shortened the entire conversation between FBI Ray Penbar and his fiancee to just "Woman, get back in your kitchen" with the way he treated her, if he shows his id to the person he's supposed to be secretly following without permission in a country where he has no authority he doesn't deserve to be allowed to play with scissors unattended. and when a kid threatens you not to turn around, you would turn around instictively and either ignore him or smack him around for such a bad joke

I hate how this show is always trying to pretend Kira and L are genious-level by turning the rest of the world's population into morons. (seriously if Ryouzaki opened the door by using a door handle one of the cops would congratulate him on such brilliant thinking!) [/rant]

I also seem to be the only one excited about the new Ghostbusters game (now they can do it with greater than 8-bit graphics!!!) just to see what happens when you cross the streams...

You couldn't say you don't care about football a few years ago without fear of a public lynching.

Is there anything else in the world where you seem to feel differently to everyone else...

You know what, I'm completely in agreement.

I spent my middle school awkwardness as a victim of that manga (and manga in general. ugh.) and now that my mind has been adequately flushed of it, I look back on the entire thing with annoyance. I will admit that L was a fun character (and the only part of the whole thing that I can stand anymore) and that the art was nice, but pretentious is right on the money.

Sue me.

I like some parts of deathnote. Pretty much from the point L arrives on the scene to the point Misa shows up is good. Everything before or after those points sucks. Misa was annoying. And until L shows up it's not interesting.

I like Ryuk though, he sometimes has some interesting observations.

I'm sure you're not the only one, though-- Death Note's popularity has increased exponentially since airing on Cartoon Network. It's reached the point where it's becoming cool to dislike it.

The only thing I didn't like about the show was the second season opening theme. it was cool but unfitting. Aside from that I thought the show was pure brilliance, and one of the best anime's I have seen in a long time. Pretentious? eh..not in my books. It's not for everyone, especially due to the heavy dialogue.

i don't mind tho show, i don't think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread but it does have some real good philosophy and such behind it, like what is defines good and evil. much in the same way dexter does

i've seen much better and much worse manga than that, personally i can kinda tune out some of the annoying characters in the show, i've learned that with anime over the years. nge is great for doing that, i call it the shinji filter

I like it, but it only makes sense if you get into the DN world. If you don't however it could seem so-so I guess.

haven't watched it... Not a big fan of anime...that and there's this huge weeaboo at my school who approaches you if you make the slightest mention of the word "anime"
