Incase its not clear from the title, I saw Inception, and thought it was a good movie. Its had an interesting concept, and average story, but other then some flashy action and affects there's not alot to it. I understood the whole concept of a dream inside a dream, subconscious thing (like Psychonauts), even though it was poorly explained. This isn't helped by the story picking up at the end of Dicaprio's character's mission for redemption, which left me asking things like "who are these people," "why should I care," and "WTF is going on." All my questions were answer though by the second act, but that didn't leave to much time for good characterization. The last scene of the movie, you know the one EVERYONE freaks out about, was easily predictable and reminded me of another movie also starring DiCaprio playing a character in just about the same circumstance, that came out only a year before... you know Shutter Island.
Maybe I just have a spoiled taste in movies for believing that some of the best movies can hold themselves up purely on stunning dialogue, and don't have to constendly resort to violence and action to keep an audience's attention, because the plot is doing that by itself.
Movies like Citizen Kane or Ikiru for example (oddly enough both are in black-n-white). Or a movie where action is only used as a plot device, like the Godfather and V for Vendetta.
Inception is close, but not quite there, so I say its good, not great not bad, just good.

Am I the only one who just liked this movie. What's your opinion of the movie

EDIT: The question is, more or less, rhetorical. So take a lap and stop complaining

I liked it, I was just disappointed from the amount of hype it got. It was a good movie with a cool idea.

I really need to see it first, before making an opinion. But if it is like people describe, I'll probably love it.

No, you're not the only one, everybody I know who's seen it has liked it.

I wasn't aware that Inception had a large Hate-Base.

You mean out of all of the gleaming reviews it got and fantastic things said about it on this very site you think you're the only one who liked it? No, you're not.

Maybe, but I guess I'm the only one who LIKES Marmite.

Read that last sentence again. You'll see the joke.

Calumon: We never saw it. I wanted to see Toy Story instead.

While not a perfect movie or the best movie ever (although, I would be hard pushed to find a movie that deserves that title and I consider it among most of the true classics that I have seen).

Is it just me, or have we actually had a pretty damn fine year moviewise so far? I mean, its not even over and we have had Toy Story 3, Inception and (from what I've read) the Social Network, all 3 stone cold classics, along with some great cult movies like Scott Pilgrim.

It was a really cool idea, and executed well, but some of it seemed unnecessarily complicated. It's good for a movie to be deep, but not to the point of trying to confuse the viewer.

I thought it was a fantastic movie. I love Leo and the whole premise of what was real or a dream and the dream within a dream was excellent. I especially like Spoonys review of it when he says that the whole movie works as an analogy for film making.

I didn't LIKE Inception, I LOVED it. But I've also seen films which are better. Not A LOT, but certainly a good few.

I have yet to see it. I've heard good things about it, and I think I'll like it.

But no, you're not the only one. C'mon...

I liked Inception, I thought it was a very well made movie. However, the main plot device surrounding the nature of these dreams as being imperceptible from reality (and how that spills over into the real world by the end), I find, made the plot fairly predictable right from the start.

Although, this is coming from someone who has watched/read a lot of Science Fiction with themes similar to Inception, so perhaps I'm more than slightly accustomed to these sorts of things.

I would recommend Blade Runner over it. The theme isn't the same, but it's the same sort of "reality-questioning" type of Sci-Fi movie.
