Hiya Escapist:].

So, the time has come again; I'm obsessed with a song.

Which one?

Thing is, I'm the only person I know irl that loves this kind of music.
Another thing I've noticed is that...most people hate it.

IT MAKETH ME SAD.

Tl;dr: What do you guys think of this genre of music? [I suppose it's branded hardcore by some, but it varies...yeah]. Do you think it's alright? Do you find it god awful?

Also: Go on then, what do you guys think of the emo/scene subculture?

Don't be too brutal, guys:].
[sub]...that really didn't warrant a tl;dr. Ah well...[/sub]
ALALSO: Yerr, this isn't the best example of the genre, but it's a song I'm enjoying right now that I thought I'd share:].
Triplealso: I know I'm not the only one, there are plenty of us; but nothing beats an attention grabbing title eh:].

Edit: Wow, some people are dicks and take the title waaaaay too literally haha. Just to highlight; I know there are much better bands out there. I'll say it again- this is just a song I'm enjoying right now.
On a nicer note, thanks to everyone who have introduced me to some new bands. Wheyhey.

Yes. You're the only person in the world who likes that kind of music.

Every band who makes that genre of music, is making it specifically for your entertainment only. When you die, the sky will echo with the anguish of many bands who rely on you (and only you) for income and support. Bereft of their only fan, they will have no choice but to take their own lives, hoping that they can entertain you with their music in whatever afterlife there is.

I'm pretty sure you know that you're not the only one who likes that, since in order to embed the youtube video I'm sure you saw the "like" bar.

That being said, it's not the worst thing ever. But I don't really care for it.

They look and sound almost exactly like Attack Attack aka Crabcore. If that's your thing, then yay for you...

It was pretty decent until the screaming started. After that, it felt like my ears were being violated.

I'm glad I waited to hear the screaming. :j
I'm not much of a fan of the whole, "I'm sensitive so I sing, but I'm a badass so I scream" gig.
I'm okay with either, but it gets a little... I dunno... generic?... when bands are doing it.
Is this what they call "Screamo"?
Either way, I've heard much worse from this genre.

Pretty boy Screamo? Someone hasn't been to Vans Warped Tour.

My opinion on the Emo Subculture?

Lostprophets and Enter Shikari are the only bands that moderately hold my interest. Unless you count bands like Cap'n Jazz, Rites of Spring, Empire Empire (I was A Lonely Estate), Circle Takes the Square, La Dispute or Foxy Shazam as Emo.

"This video contains content, property of WMG. It is not available in your country."

Sigh... I of course understand the need for copyright and rights management... but it is annoying getting excluded like that *g*.

So: Eh, no idea what you like.

It seems to me like a strange mix of generic 'trendy' style modern boy band (can't really think of a name for the genre) and generic tuneless screamo.

I don't really think it works, but meh. I would prefer something heavier than the non-screamo sections and something more elegant or at least less monotone and constant than the screamo bits.

Hmm... It's not bad... It's not great, but only because it isn't "hard" enough for me...

If it didn't not-screamo half the song, I'd definitely go for it though!

This isn't emo, Cap'n Jazz and Rites of Spring are and they're both terrible.

Not a screamo fan, sorry.

Oh and the emo scene? Encouraging maladjusted teenagers to hurt themselves and the ones they love? Can't say I approve.

Not that anyone cares though...

Big Black are cool, wish I had an opportunity to see them live..

OT: I do enjoy Scarlett O'Hara, not much or often, but when it comes up I'm not the one to walk away

hmm i didnt hate it, i thought it was ok till the singer started in, then i thought, meh, another all time low, you me at six type band. then he started screaming, and it all fell apart, to ignore the 'singer' i had to pay close attention to the other band members, and gotta say, pretty freaking bland. for the drummer, it was pretty much the same thing all the way through, except the bass pedal, and the guitars were just strumming extremely similar notes untill the near the end.

so not really good, and nothing i havent heard before. but if it comes on the radio, and im in the right mood, i wouldnt turn it off.

Lots of people like terrible generic screamo.
Oh god, oh please god, don't be a douche. Also 'screamo' is not a suitable term for punk/hardcore/metal music which utilises screaming vocals so don't use it, kay?

OT: It's good but not great. The lyrics are a little generic and the clean vocals are a bit too whiney for my taste but the drumming is nice and the screaming vox are tasty
When it comes to hardcore/metalcore bands which use a mix of clean and screaming vocals, nothing can match up to bands like Architects, Killswitch Engage and Periphery

But yeah, this song isn't bad, it's just not great. No boundaries being pushed here
Also, nice avatar, OP. I'm wearing a Drop Dead t-shirt as we type
