Poll: American English or English English?

There's a book out there called "The Meaning of Tingo" which is about very specific words that arise in some language. Tingo itself means "to borrow a friend's belongings, one at a time, until they have nothing left".

I use English English, being a Brit, but I am proud of the language itself and its amazing flexibility, and cheerfully absorb/regurgitate phrases from any dialect that I like. Outdated slang is especially swell. Also, the inherent transatlantic awkwardness of the phrases 'Can I bum a fag?' and 'fannypack' are fabulous. The differences are there to be cherished!

Aggressively patriotic views on language are ghastly, but inferiority complexes are just sad - I know an American woman who insists no great works of literature can be written in American English, which is quite tragic.

I like American English, because the rules are so lax.
For example:
I gotta go.
Got to go.
Also, nouns can be questions.
Apple pie?
No, just ate.

Honestly, while most of the great works of literature, at least those currently analyzed, lean more toward English-English, it's not that Americans don't. Tell that woman, whoever she is, that she's silly.
