Sweet Christ my head hurts and I will need a new desk by tomorrow. Way to A) overgeneralize over 300 million people B) assume that the most radical part of a group is the entire part of a group C) still ignore this websites spell checker (I still get a red squiggly line under wilful and my writing professor would take off points). A vast majority of religious people do not believe that the earth is six thousand years old. The age of the earth is never actually stated in the bible. Six thousand was a number cooked up by a couple of loons using numerology and some people who can not be bothered to actually read the bible believe it. Would you like to know a secret? There are people like that in every country. People who are willing to believe whatever rhetoric they latch on to and refuse to let go no matter what (You are a good example). Would you like me to show you some other statistics?
Oh look the United States and Lithuania have an equal average IQ!(actually the US is slightly higher but it is such a marginal difference that it is negligible)

How funny! And look! A higher percentage of people in the united states recognize the existence of global warming as well!

Oh gosh that is interesting! What about acceptance of homosexuals?

I have no real problem with people from the States (though I personally find it amusing they call themselves American as if it was the only country on the continent) except the ones I find on the internet, but you cannot really judge the population as a whole when it is so vastly diverse. On the other hand the government, health care system, gun control laws, and foreign policies really need to be debugged or destroyed.

Hate the people, hate the system. The people[footnote]Read: most, not everyone.[/footnote] because of their *cough* beliefs, wilful ignorance and sometimes outright stupidity, and the system, well, lobbyists, business interests and such are what's wrong.
I feel so hated now D:

I live in the United States and quite honestly we have a lot of insane people, who are quite proud to be insane.

For instance, we have a religious denomination that is expanding rapidly that believes the Earth was created 6000 years ago(as the bible explains) and they lobby to teach that version of history in our schools every year as a "scientific theory", and they're WINNING in some parts of the country.

I feel like there is a tide of ignorance and paranoia in this country that is threatening to send us back to the dark ages.

I said 'other', because while most of my experience with Americans has been online or on TV, and these have been bad experiences for the mostpart, the ones I've met in real life have been generally quite nice.

I'm not getting in to the American system, I think it devalues human life.

Aw, are you kidding? America makes people like you can't find anywhere else in the world! I flat out love those nutters, with their incredible inability to be defined by a single sweeping generalization! Isn't it a shame that every other country in the world is populated by people who all share the exact same opinions on everything, act the same way in every situation, and all look exactly the same? If more countries were like America, the world would be a much more interesting place, I reckon!

Ok, so there are a SHIT LOAD of Americans. I take 'em on a case by case basis. Even if I DO pay out on my seppo mates (but I do that to everyone else, too).

The system is pretty fucked. Spend billions on bombs but fuck all in the way of public health? FAIL.

I get pretty irked about the US's invasive foriegn policy, too. When Bush said "Yer either with us, or again' us." I thought to myself, 'Well, fuck you, then. I'm "again'" you, cockhead cowboy!"

A land where majority think its ok to shoot first and ask questions later, having to be religious(pretend) to be president is just silly. THEY DONT MIX. also allowing mass majorities of people to go poor and starve. Like veterans and afro americans. Pretty much just like their police system as its badass and gets stuff done. Justice system is biased. Some black ppl get 10 yrs for simple shoplifting, racist any1?

The whole religious holier then thou routine. But bombing people left and right and shooting someone at your door is fine. K plz baii.

Also the whole patriotic crazyness. Us is a whelpling of a country in a historical perspective and is people from the whole of europe yet they worship their last 400 yrs like it was the creation of earth LoLzZzzzz.

American Politics have been the same ever since its been founded to all my fellow americans we always yelled at what direction we should go in. They were complaining about the Deficit in FDR's presidency and in Lincoln's term in office trying to lie to your self that we have some how gotten stupid is telling your self a lie we have always complained about the system because we allow mutliple viewpoints in the country. everyone loves it when there viewpoint is elected to power but man do people complain when the other viewpoint is in power. American people are great people they live in a country where there is not "High blood" everyone is the same material items maybe different but they are thrown into the mix. To all the europeans who just love to state there opinion if the USA kept its Isolationist policies Europe today would look very different the fact is we kept the peace after WWII. in the past 70 years violence in the world is down more people are alive sure we made a mistake by proping up dictators because at the time the soviets were a more pressing threat.

America's new slogn should be Every fight is our fight because what happens over there effects over here

I'm from Germany and it may surprise some of you that i never killed a single Jew. No really, i spoke to People who where surprised that i don't blame the Jews for anything. Most of the People who thought that where american but that may have something to do with the fact that half of the People i talk to online are from america.

If you where to assume that something, whatever that may be, that is unique to a Country may color the Psyche of the People living there, you can't assume that any Person might be affected by that. I'll take myself as an Example: A German who doesn't drink Beer and doesn't like Soccer. By the Way, i'm also a Man who doesn't care about Cars much.

I live in a Place that could easily be confused with a junkyard, not all germans like to keep things orderly.
I do like Bratwurst though. And the occassional Rippchen mit Kraut.

So some of the traits German People are infamous for aren't found in me for some Reason. I don't know how that came to be.

I'll assume that there are one or two People in America that aren't stupid loud guncrazy morons who eat Burgers of which every single one has more fat in it then the average Elephant.

By the way, we do have stupid People over here too. You may know this show "American Idol"? We have a knock-off of that. People come to the Castings of those Shows by the thousands.

This is not like some Idiots that don't know where Canada is on the Worldmap as shown in a Video, for which the People who made this probably took a week or so of constantly interviewing many People until they found the one in a thousand who fit the bill.
Or maybe they just gave those People 20 bucks and told them to act really stupid.

No, the Castings for "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" (Germany's version of "American idol") are stormed by thousands of People. The Show itself is watched by millions.

So if American People are stupid, at least they aren't alone.

Aaaahhh, America... The riveted swamps, the beautiful open landscapes, the natural life... All so wonderful.

What, we're talking about the people and politics? Well fuck that, it's disrupting my beautiful view on America!

In all honesty, I've never been there. But from what I can tell from one of my friends who went there as an exchange student...
He got to live with an obese, Christian family who ate more fast-food than anything else. And the entire block wasn't anything different, nor the schools. He told me, more than 50% of the kids there were in fact obese, fat, large, round, pear-shaped teenagers from his own observations.

And that scares me!

So I suppose... I'd respect the people more if they had a greater sense of discipline and self-control.

As for the politicians, they are deuces like every other politician. No huge difference I feel.

Here is my two cents on this.

America; is my home and I love it and I know our system sucks, but for being only about 230 years old we are still a new country as opposed to the countries who have been around for close to 1,000 years old. We are still a brand new country, and our system is no where near perfect, but it?s certainly one of the best systems out there, whether you would like to admit it or not. We still have to tweak and refine our system, and maybe someday it will be a great system but we are still in the process of still building our country.

And even in those 200 years, our country has been through a lot and come out on top; we have a right to be arrogant and such about it. And not all of us are incredibly patriotic. Not everyone runs around screaming "FOR AMERICA" and do things in the name of our country. No; most of us sow our appreciation through the subtle acts of patriotism like our anthem and our beliefs in our country.

Our military is the same. We may be powerful but again we are still getting through this world; we may have one of the strongest forces and many people RELY on our support as the military in a whole. And again this may be opinion of mine but take Israel. We support and help them, through their time of needs when they need it. Sure it may seem odd of us to "stick our nose in someone?s business" but Israel is our ally and now they need our help with Iraq and them; we did the SAME for Britain as well in WW2. When Japan bombed us we immediately went to help Britain. EVEN THEN before the bombing we were running supplies to them; because they asked us for our help.

And its amazing that you guys bash on us when you seem to get all your info from TV. Not all of America is crazy, fat, murderous, redneck, over-patriotic, or stupid. The media is to blame here, as it does to every country showing them in the worst light possible. You cannot make a judgment until you know and have lived in a country for a significant amount of time to make a proper judgment. This is practically impossible to do, simply because of the massive amounts of countries. So stop judging here people; we all still have our flaws.

One thing wrong with the entirety your argument. I ain't defending the Lithuanian people and saying they're (in general) not stupid, ignorant, homophobic, xenophobic and the like. The thread is about US, and frankly, if you want to compare it to other countries, at least compare it to other progressive ones, not some shithole that's been occupied, divided and heavily influenced by others left and right for hundreds of years and has nothing in the ways of economy or influence in the world
You mean the shithole you are from? Even if you look at the other countries on those list the US isn't that far behind. Sorry but Americans aren't as dumb as you seem to think.

I too get agrivated about thinking that if 60% of the population there just ate a normal diet it could probably feed everyone in africa and probably stop the rainforest from becoming a farmforest. Not to mention the massive ammounts of food that gets spoiled and thrown away. As there is alot of Buffets and all you can eat etc. Should really have a law against gluttony, well they are going to die young at any rate. if only they would ban lypo.
