Flimsii man stiffen up your spelling...

PS, British TV, it goes somewhere and actually comes to an end. Versus the American model of a beginning, infinitely extended middle and then cancellation with cobble up ending written mid series...
other than jonathan which i spelt with an o instead of an a i spelt it entirely correctly, so do your homework kiddo.
Your grammar needs improving too, mate. Do your homework.

OT: Majority of TV I watch is British. I generally like British Stand-Up more than American. I haven't watched enough American comedy game shows to make an educated comparison. I really like American comedy cartoons [Family Guy, South Park...], and we Brits don't really have anything like that [as far as I know]. I generally stick to comedy for the most part, so that's all I have to say.
well if he said GRAMMER i would have said yep i do,oh well but he said spelling and spelling doesnt = grammer

I personally prefer British TV comedy, which has had the likes of Fawlty Towers, The Young Ones, Father Ted, The IT Crowd, Spaced, Blackadder etc etc. I also like programmes such as Mock The Week, Have I Got News For You and QI. I can't really think of a comparison with American TV.
When you compare American comedy (with the exception of animated shows), the humor doesn't quite hit the mark for me. Friends and Scrubs (especially) have just got stale in my opinion.
American drama, on the other hand, I find to be much better than British drama. Shows like Dexter, House, Prison Break (the first two seasons at least), are just much better made.

TV? Meh. That's time I could've spent playing video games.

But I do favor British humor over American any day.

Well, now I'm going to pick you up on your spelling, because despite the fact that I spelled grammar correctly in my responding post, which you went ahead and quoted, you still managed to spell it wrong yourself. Nice one.

Big Bang Theory...I find the jokes extremely tame and boring, and i wonder why they do so well?
You think Big Bang Theory is boring?!...
What are you doing here man? That show is the messiah of nerd kind. It takes jokes only people like us would get and couples them with the usual "nerds are socially awkward" jokes that appeal to a wider audience. Thus it creates a show from which nerds and norms alike can benefit.

Sheldon: I don't go to strange restaurants, you run the risk of encountering non-standard cutlery.
Girl: ?
Leonard: Sheldon lives in fear of the three tined fork.
Sheldon: Three tines is not a fork Leonard, three tines is a trident, one is for eating the other is for ruling the seven seas.

I'm not saying you have to find it funny, but I do think its pretty obvious why it appeals, especially to nerds.

What this thread really needs is Australian TV... except the only thing I know of that makes it overseas is Neighbours, and maybe Home and Away... There's really not much worthwhile.
The only things I can think of that are worth exporting are Spicks and Specks and the Gruen Transfer. We really aren't good at 'home-grown' TV and movies. We'll just have to settle for being awesome at everything else.

But then you failed to spell 'grammar' correctly, and thus the point is moot.

British for comedy, American for drama. Generally, with some exceptions.

Britain has no equivalent of good sci-fi like BSG or Firefly (no, Dr. Who doesn't count), or for awesome stuff like Burn Notice, Chuck, Futurama, Veronica Mars, or Lost.

The US has nothing that comes close to touching Blackadder, QI, The Thick of It, other stuff off the top of my head.

Recently, I've been watching a lot of British TV since my laptop broke and I only have the basic 5 channels on my tv. Really, I can't get into any of the dramas and lots of the prime-time shows have soap-opera level acting.

I am scottish (for the americans its part of the u.k)
I think that pretty much all Americans on the Escapist know that Scotland is part of the UK and that Scottish is the demonym for people from Scotland. Not in those exact words of course.

On Topic: I don't watch much TV but all of my favorite shows are made in the US or Canada.
you'd be suprised, american escapists probably but americans in general...lets put it this way i think it was somewhere between 40-60% of americans dont know the sun is a star.
Sorry, you don't get to be condescending to forum members when your grammar and punctuation is so atrocious.

OT: I'm a fan of Skins, but I like Scrubs more. America wins.
some people are better at some things more than others, for example i am good at scientific and mathematical problems, written english isnt my forte although i still enjoy a good discussion,i would consider myself smart, not particularly good at english (or french XD) but this 40-60% of americans are morons.and you are like alot of escapist's really passionate about grammer XD.my point is just because my grammer isnt ridiculously accurate (or what you all prolly do is scan it through MS word)doesnt mean i cant judge people :p(i jk).

You have no right to say Matt Smith is the worst actor ever after one episode.

Beacause of this, I'm not answering the question.

Code:
No Versus threads here. Read the rules. As no versus threads are here, I can pick both.
HURR DURR HURR
you saw that episode right??? it was horrible,he was horrible it was a shambles.
That wasn't him. That was the writing of that episode.

OT: British is usually better for me but some of my favourite shows are American.

Geeze I forgot those.
Also I love Good News Week. Paul McDermot is hilarious... and short.
Kath and Kim is good, and Russel Coight but they're both very much Australian humour and as we saw with the American Kath and Kim, do not translate well at all.

Well, not to sound like a dick, but why don't you use correct grammar if you realise it's not very good? It's a lot tidier to look at and makes it easier reading for everyone else. It also makes you arguments seem more credible if you can type correctly. Otherwise a lot of people won't give you the time of day.

OT: I would always say British, a lot of the best American shows are massively over-hyped and do kinda suck. However, as in all cases there are exceptions. Such as the excellent Band of Brothers and Pacific TV shows.

Both sides have great shows:

Britain: Greenwing - Spaced - Red Dwarf - Modern Toss
America: Arrested Development - 30 Rock - The Sopranos - Flight of the Chonchords (pretty sure this is produced by American companies...)

Both sides have utter mind-numbingly shit shows:

Britain: Dr Who - Loose women
America: The Big Bang theory - That 70s Show

Its just that the US produces a great deal more programming so a great deal more of it is going to be shit and the advertising is hellish. Yet, I honestly couldn't chose between watching just British programs or just American programs because there are parts of each that I couldn't do without.

I assume your talking about House? I love that show. One of the few TV gems to come out of America
