Hmm. Probably not.

I never really got into survival horror games. (If that's what it is.)I'm sort of a fraidy cat when it comes to those kinds of games. :/

However, in it's trailer, the game claimed that IGN had called it 'Amy is Ico with Zombies and is totally brilliant".
Damn. That's a pretty bold claim right there I must say. If that's true than I would probably be all over this game. It's probably unlikely though by the looks of the score it received.

As a survival horror fan, horror fan in general I was cautiously optimistic about this one. Couldn't help that sneaking suspicion that something was amiss, well, I may try a demo or such, but this seems like it has turned out to be a terrible disappointment. This is a touch saddening.

I don't understand

Amy is one of the best new games I've played in years. I enjoy it more than almost every xbla game out there (From Dust and Bastion withstanding) and most $60 games to be released in recent history.

- the lipsynch is off and the checkpoints are far to few

+ the combat is easy to use, it makes sense and its easy to dodge

+ the puzzles are challenging but not insulting

+ there are many enemies that you can't kill

+ they take what is essentially an escort game and (so far) take away AI Amy's ability to game over you

+ they hardly reuse anything in the environment and its deadly, always keeping you on your toes

Edit: + and the music isn't bad. which as far as xbla games go is a plus. I actually rather like it

Not to mention that the in game relationship between Lana and Amy is one of the best I've been a part of. Its in-game is more immersive and believable than Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Army of Two, Resident Evil 5, the new Prince of Persia and most JPGs; pretty much any AI cooperative game I've ever played. It very much reminds me of Leon and Ashely in Resident Evil 4 except Ashely as a 12yo autistic with psychic superpowers.

The devs of this game are downright awesome. Can you imagine what they could have done with a $60 game budget? I don't know how much money went into this but while its easy to see they didn't have much they made use of it in all the places it counts. They also released several "developer diary" videos that work pretty much as a tutorial (not that it doesn't have one) for the actual game. And since when was not giving away most of the game in the trailer a bad idea?! And they released Amy for $10. Fuck man, this game is worth more to me and will get more game time than pretty much every other $15 game on my 360.

If you are a fan of zombies or survival games(I hesitate to add horror to that but Amy does a very good job at keeping you on your toes) there is no reason why you shouldn't pick this up.

You know sometimes I'm not convinced I don't live in a different world than the rest of you.
Amy is a excellent xbla game, a good zombie game, a good puzzle game and it has the most interesting in-game AI relationship.
I really enjoy it
Very well said, and I support it 100%. I am loving the game, and it's a damn shame that these moronic reviews will put off a lot of people who were on the fence.

I don't know if people are afraid to try something different that doesn't hold your hand (see what I did there?) or just flock like sheep to IGN ratins and Jim Sterling's personal opinion, but again... damn shame. The game deserves better.

I don't want to get Dead Island'd again.
So no.
Amy had a shitty trailer that failed to hold my interest. I persisted because of my interest in the gameplay elements as they came out, which turned out to be great, and was rewarded with a fun, tense game that will by now no doubt go down as a failure.

Dead Island had a brilliant trailer, yet the game (which I also bought on release) turned out to be a bug-infested snooze-fest that seemed to put all its chips into the "WE HAVE ZOMBIES" basket.

I'm still playing Amy, but already I'm thinking out to make it better on my next playthrough.

Dead Island, I sold as soon as I realized that kicking zombies was all that the game rested on.

Perhaps I will research it further then.
I'm just sick of these games that theoretically look good, but turn out to be nothing more than pus shaped to look nice.
I also bought Dead Island on release. And I regret the immense amount of money I spent on it.
And I'm pretty sure I can't sell it as it is tied to my Steam account.

I know where you're coming from. When I first saw the trailer for Amy, my initial thought was "Ugh, zombies... again. Ok."

But, casualy reading on the development of the game got me interested in it, DESPITE the trailer. I read a few reviews for the game yesterday, got massively disapointed, but decided to try it out anyway, and like I said, good thing that I did. I dunno what is wrong with some reviewers these days, but I think they expect every game to follow some specific checklist that they are not allowed to deviate from.

For the record, this same cautious optimism is also what I'm feeling towards "The Last of Us". The trailer left me cold, but... we'll see.

I read headline in Japan about how bad the reviews were for this game.
Had it not been for that, I would not have known about it.Now I am interested.

So "any publicity is good publicity" ...
